This store is now part of the ARC of Acadiana chain of stores. I visited this store, and after waiting for a few minutes to get helped because the cashier was busy playing on the computer, I was told I could not buy some of the items I selected from the purchasing floor--these items consisted of some VHS tapes and books--as they were not supposed to be on display. As one can see, it was not as if an adult film or book or weapon was being sold, so I ended up leaving the store. This was a very poor reflection on the professionalism of the ARC, which helped relatives of mine who needed their services historically, and the people of St. Martinville deserve better. Needless to say, you can go and shop there, but odds are, you will not be able to buy whatever item(s) you want for flimsy purposes.

This store is now part of the ARC of Acadiana, as are quite a few stores in the Lafayette/New Iberia/St. Martin Parish area. I went in to the store to purchase a few items, and they would not sell them to me for flimsy purposes, although they were out on display for sale, and they were not "banned items" (adult films, knifes/blades, etc.--I am well over 18, by the way) or being held for another customer. I have been to many different thrift stores, and while some are excellent and some are bad, I have NEVER been to one where they flat out refused to sell items they had for sale on the floors, this after I had to wait several minutes to be served as the cashier was busy playing on the computer. I am not sure if this is an ARC policy or if this store is always like that, but I can safely say that I will never frequent this store again, and the people of St. Martinville deserve better. In addition, it poorly reflects upon the mission and professionalism of the ARC, an organization that tremendously helped my late Down's Syndrome uncle and extended family. All I can say is that I do not see this store lasting very long, and I do hope another organization opens a superior one that actually sells everything on display instead of saying "I cannot sell that to you" for everyday VHS/DVD items and books and then throwing them in the garbage.
