OWNER (SCOTT WALKER) DUMPED HIS RAW SEWAGE INTO OUR POND! We live "downstream" from Village Green Mobile Home Park and there is a long history of septic system issues including times when their inoperable lift station overflowed and dumped raw sewage into our private pond. See AI# 43818 I'd like to share with you the horror I have been going through since August 2021 when the lift station of the VGMHP (owned by Scott Walker) went without power from August 2, 2021 to September 22, 2021 (according to LDEQ reports) and the holding tank overflowed dumping raw sewage into the pond we share with our neighbor. We discovered from the LDEQ reports, reading the discharge permit Mr. Walker was issued, and from our own research on how his septic system operates, that Mr. Walker had been in violation of his LDEQ Discharge Permit since 2015. But it gets worse! The excessive amount of "nutrients" he dumped into our pond resulted in an algae bloom and duckweed invasion. We foolishly gave him time to rectify the situation but he did NOTHING. In July of 2022 another incident of his lift station's loss of power occurred and MORE raw sewage was dumped into our pond that I have evidence to support was the cause of a massive fish kill. LDEQ came out and filed a report regarding the inoperable lift station. Apparently, there were even more issues over the years where his lift station failed during other power outages (especially storms like the hurricane and tornado that left us without power for days) or if the pumps failed due to mechanical issues that copious amounts of raw sewage was dumped into our pond. Every time this system either overflows or discharges effluent that is not in compliance with his permit issued by the LDEQ it adversely affects our (including neighbor's) health, homes, property, wildlife and environment. The point is that Mr. Walker knew he was in violation of his permit (LDEQ informed him), chose to continue to operate in noncompliance and did nothing to prevent dumping his sewage into our pond. My neighbor and my husband asked Mr. Walker to reimburse us for our cost to clean up the mess he made and our cost to install an aerator (something we NEVER needed before nor do most ponds) but he would only do so if we signed a "hold harmless" legal form that prevented us from requesting reimbursement for future damages, etc. Our attorney told us NOT to sign it. The reason I am bringing this up now (May 26, 2023) is because as the weather warms up, we are seeing scum, algae, and duckweed again. In spite of our efforts of running an aerator 24/7, spraying the pond with herbicides, etc., this has become and will continue to be an ongoing maintenance issue and I fear we will spend our summer month's at our expense fighting another algae bloom, duckweed invasion, and (because our neighbor who shares our pond added fish at his own expense because Mr. Walker refused to restock our pond) another fish kill, all because of Mr. Walker's failure to maintain or operate in his septic system in compliance with his discharge permit.
