“Convenient location to Baton Rouge. We were attending an LSU football game and this location was convenient and affordable. The staff is very friendly and took care of our needs. For example, we had an issue with the television in the room. I called the front desk and within 15 minutes they were in our room taking care of the issue. Nice breakfast. Hot items including omelettes and turkey sausage. My only small complaint is the breakfast ended at nine on weekends rather than the usual 10 AM. I also would've liked it if they would've left out certain items like tea and hot chocolate after the 9 AM cut off. The train whistle is an issue as other reviewers have mentioned. Our room was on the backside of the hotel, and it really was not a big issue for us. But I imagine if you were on the front side it would be. Overall. If you are attending a LSU football game, this location works.”

“"I recently stayed at this motel during a road trip and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making check-in a breeze. They were also able to provide me with some great local recommendations for restaurants and activities. The room itself was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. The bed was comfortable, and the linens were fresh and clean. I was pleasantly surprised by the range of amenities that were available, including a fridge, microwave, and flat-screen TV.The motel was also conveniently located, with easy access to the main highway and a variety of shops and restaurants in the surrounding area. Despite being close to everything, I found the motel to be surprisingly quiet and peaceful, which made for a restful night's sleep.Overall, I would highly recommend this motel to anyone looking for comfortable and affordable accommodation. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and well-equipped, and the location was ideal. Thank you for a great stay!"”

“The Crowne Plaza is an older hotel, meaning the year it was built (1973). I visited about 13 years ago for a professional conference (the same one I attended this year) and this time I felt like the rooms could have been upgraded a bit more. According to research, they were upgraded in 2019. They were not deplorable or like a motel, but I expected more - especially since I was there for a professional conference. The conference rooms were nice. Staff was okay.Rooms: Need more upgrading.Nearby activities: Everything is close by - restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, shopping, and the interstate if you want to travel a little further out.Walkability: Everything is in walking distance but keep in mind this is a high traffic area with not many sidewalks.”

“We came for Mardi Gras Swim meet and our heat wasn't working ( it was 30-40 degrees out) the first night. Mr Darryl - chief engineer came and worked on it, he was frank that the fix would take time and he expedited a room move for us two times as the first move would have moved us away from our team mates. He was kind and we appreciated the direct communication that the situation wasn't a quick fix, followed by a solution until we were in a warm room, close to our team.”

“Sports zone has amazing food, even better service. Kolisha goes above and beyond to ensure every customer feels welcome and taken care of. Not only does she mix up fantastic drinks with precision and flair, but her warm demeanor adds an extra sparkle to the atmosphere. I don't remember the other wonderful ladies names but they are equally fantastic.”

“Stayed here one night on our way to Florida with my husband and 5 yo daughter. We had reserved the king suite but were contacted day before that AC was not working. So we had to do the two queens instead. They let us check in early. Property and grounds were beautiful. They didn't have tours at this time. However we were able to meander through freely and were surprised that things were not roped off. It was mostly in good condition. Outdoor area needed some attention. Rose garden bushes were overgrown and looked like roses needed fertilizer as not growing well. Pool area was locked and looked small and sleepy. Loved the 100 plus year old oak trees. Many good photo opportunities and not crowded at all. There is a small one room museum which was interesting and had a lot of reading materials and a few relics. Adjacent theater movie played sound but no picture. Room itself was modern but maintained the look and elegance of the mansion. Beds were very comfy. AC kept the room cool. We had a small fridge but disappointed no microwave or tea. Just a coffee maker. Also no shampoo or conditioner. Just hand soap. We didn't ask for it though. Room was a little dirty. Found clumps of hair on the floor and a few small bugs. It was quiet outside except for loud DJ playing for wedding until around 11 pm. Sugar cane field right behind us. Could hear birds in the morning. Parking so convenient right outside and free. It seemed safe and classy crowd there. Went to restaurant for dinner. Limited menu options and no kids menu. Prices were reasonable. I had strawberry salad which was excellent. Husband had etoufee which was good. Daughter had red beans and rice and surprisingly ate some which is good for her as she's a picky eater. Sticky shrimp appetizer was more like general Tao shrimp with sweet and sour sauce. Didn't care for it. Pecan pie was best I ever had. All and all this is a real gem of a place. Surprised it's still standing after civil war and restored after several centuries. So felt like a real privilege to stay here.”

“We spent a long weekend there! It was great. The food options were FANTASTIC! I highly recommend Johnny Sanchez for breakfast and Drago's for dinner. The casino was nice, lots of slots and table games. The staff every where we went was AMAZING!!! They were all so nice ans hard working. The room was nice although it did show it's age a little but it was still nice. I'd definitely go back.”

“We have stayed at this hotel at least four dozen times over the last 5 years. It has always been wonderful. The suites are beautiful and clean, and the staff is excellent. This is the only hotel that we use in the Baton Rouge area.”

“Located central to shopping, dining, and hospitals, this place is very clean and nice. The front desk attendant was able to give me a room directly by the exit, which provided easy access in and out of the hotel.I thought I left my phone in the room after checkout, and the lady answering phones went above and beyond to find my phone. This was a joyful experience, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Baton Rouge.”

“Friendly staff, hotel getting old. Slow elevators, sometimes 1 of the 2 is broken, using stairs is not an option, because they do not exit on first floor, just to outside.”

“Rooms, beds and bathrooms are very clean. The free breakfast has variety and is fresh. All this is second to the fact that the staff is always smiling and friendly.”

“The super friendly service and clean rooms make up for the bit outdated bathroom. I really enjoy this hotel. The way the people in the lobby greet you, the cleanness of the rooms and the outback restaurant next door. The little scratch card for gold members is an amazing idea, I wish all Marriotts would do that.Overall, it's a great hotel, I'm definitely coming back here!”

“We just started a 5 day stay here and I must say that first impressions are great. It really upsets me to think of the number of times we've been in Baton Rouge and stayed in nearby places that were more expensive and not as nice.We chose the king suite room because of some reviews and we're thrilled at the size of the suite and the cleanliness. This is an older hotel but is in the very best condition. Lobby and breakfast are impressive. There's a lot of highway noise but absolutely none in our room.If things change during our stay I'll update this post but I don't expect any problems. I can't imagine where any bad reviews come from.Follow -up Review:My husband and I stayed at this hotel again a year or so later and we had a very poor experience. We were in a different section of the hotel for the second stay and it was nothing like the first. The room this time was a standard double room. It didn't seem clean and there was noise in the hall that was bothersome. The walls and doors did not block routine conversations outside the room. It really seemed like a second rate hotel. We go to Baton Rouge every year but we have never stayed here again. The location is great and maybe the king suites are the way to go but we've never given them another chance.”

“I have visited Nottaway twice. Both times I have had a wonderful time. The staff is friendly and the tour guides are interesting and knowledgeable. They are also happy to answer questions. The tours are not rushed or crowded. Nottoway is gorgeous. The grounds are also beautiful. Highly recommend.”

“Kenric (the front desk guy) is seriously one of the nicest men I have ever met. I had traveled several hours and arrived early. He was so kind to get me. I arrived a few hours early and he could tell I was totally exhausted. He allowed me to check in early so I can take a nap before my important event that evening. Then the next day he went out of his way to help me print an important document. You don't find stuff like that anymore. The beds are why I love to stay at Comfort Inn. The only reason I gave it a four-star is because the hotel is getting a bit outdated. But under no circumstances, is that an issue on the staff side.”

“Excellent crew, easily check in, fantastically easy to book, and clean! Even in the lobby, it smelled so clean! The room was clean and the air conditioner worked well. My only two complaints were about the bathroom door and the bathroom vent. The door didn't close completely, but it wasn't a huge issue. However, the bathroom vent, which had no option to turn off as it was tied to the light switch, was amazingly loud and rambunctious. The vent gave me flashbacks. Every time we would turn on the bathroom light, it was like listening to a concert of epileptic monkeys bang coconuts on tiger enclosure at an understaffed zoo. Gotta get that fixed.”
