Love this place - they may have crazy business hours, but their assortment of reusable materials and hardware is second to none in the Greater New Orleans area. I never leave empty handed. From an old mason jar full of mixed screws and hooks to antique French doors, there's bound to be a treasure for every patron waiting around any of its numerous corners and crevices. With incredibly reasonable (sometimes negotiable) pricing, I make an effort to stop at The Green Project before heading to those big box hardware stores for most accoutrements. If you like the atmosphere of a hardware store flea market and don't mind getting a little dirty while digging, you'll love it. The staff are always laid back and ready to assist in any way they can.

I really want to like this place more, but their absurd hours make them largely useless to a customer. Unfortunately, this is a really bad sign for a company and could indicate that they won’t be around much longer.

A fun place for digging around for salvaged items from doors to hardware to paints, all at reasonable prices.

Great place to scour for house and art projects. Never know what you'll find, and the staff is really helpful. Also, donate your stuff you no longer need for said house and art projects.

This is a very important spot to know about if you own a historic home in the New Orleans area. There is a huge inventory of historic buildings in the New Orleans area which suffer due to the challenging environment of the region along with time that results in ongoing damage to different parts of these old buildings and it is hard to find replacement parts. The Green Project is essentially a graveyard of houses that have been sadly torn down and the remaining good parts salvaged which allows current homes to be repaired with the remains of destroyed ones. The biggest negative here is the sticker shock prices of many of the items as you are no longer getting good deals on many of the items which might have been much more possible right after Hurricane Katrina.
