Great little museum in a historic building dating back to the Spanish rule of the city. The exhibits they had were very interesting and covered both history and art. I enjoyed the information and artifacts they had on the Battle of New Orleans and that time period and I also enjoyed getting some nice views of the plaza even if the windows are a bit dirty and hard to look out of.

All you need to know about the history of the city - this is a great resource. $10 entry tickets only! Pretty nice place to take pictures as well! I don't consider myself an art enthusiast, but Slonem's easel was neat! This place also offers cool views of the Jackson Square!

If you like history, it's great. Well curated and very informative with lots of artifacts and audio-visual components. Our favorite part was the "We love New Orleans" 1st floor exhibit which showcased a lot of unique pieces of the city. The art exhibit on the 3rd floor- depends on your taste. Bathrooms were nice and clean

So much interesting New Orleans historical facts and war of 1812/battle of New Orleans information! Lots of great artifacts on display. The first floor is a little bit of everything that you come to New Orleans for. Architecture, food, jazz, sports, entertainment, Mardi Gras. Beautiful museum to take a look at. The history of the building itself is interesting to learn about!

We went into one of the museums but you need to pay for each one as there two museums beside each other are different. They said you can get a 20% discount if you want to see two or more. They have videos and pictures from Hurricane Catharina and some Mardi Gras history stuff

Honestly, the woman working at the front ruined my experience. I had a bottle of water, and saw the “no drinks allowed sign”. I was starting to ask her for a garbage to throw it away, and right as I said “I see it’s no drinks allowed, do you…” and she cut in with “no drinks, no drinks, no drinks, we can cancel the sale, I will not be chastised for it,” where she continued in a tangent. Me: “Ma’am, I completely understand and respect that, I was just asking if you had a garbage.” Still went on the tour, but her attitude from that first impression made it a bummer. The exhibit was okay.I’d be weary with who you have facing customers.

The Cabildo houses a really extensive museum on New Orleans history. We were facilitated with the memorabilia from all around the city. This is the focus of the ground floor. The second floor is more about the founding and the Battle of New Orleans. This was so worthwhile, we would highly recommend to anyone interested in the City’s past.

Very friendly and informative people. There is much to see and the tells a history of New Orleans very well. The first two level were great. The last level was ok but I dont recommend the last level for kids because of nude paintings.

I throughly enjoyed my visit. This museum is more for the history of New Orleans the important people and events that shape New Orleans to what it is today. I recommend a visit.

The sensational Andrew Lamar Hopkins art exhibit is what drew me to this local history museum last week. All the exhibits are marvelous (though maybe the top-floor Hopkins one, which will be on site through Sept 30, is the summer's best), and The Cabildo makes it easy to see what Bob Dylan means when he says, "There are a lot of places I like, but I like New Orleans better."

This was an interesting museum with various collections. The building itself is interesting with all its features and history. It is very clean and was not noisy and crowded when I visited. The exhibit about Mardi Gra was fun. The history about the war of 1812 was insightful. The room on the second floor overlooking the street gave a nice view. Reasonable admission for the whole place.

This place had some good displays about the Battle of New Orleans. It made it clear to me how important individual ownership of military grade weapons is critical to prevent tyranny. I thank the good people of Louisiana for keeping America alive in Spirit.

This building is a cornerstone of US history, and an absolute must for history buffs passing through New Orleans. We like to include a museum stop in the cities we pass through to learn more about the area. The Cabildo absolutely delivered. The Cabildo was the seat of the Spanish gov in New Orleans, site of the Louisiana Purchase Ceremonies, and where Plessy v. Ferguson took place. Incredible history.

This museum was nice but in my opinion it didn't quite live up to the high reviews I had read. Perhaps I would have had a different experience if I hadn't been there with my three- and six-year-old kids who didn't really enjoy it that much (fortunately, they were free thought). There were a couple interactive exhibits that they enjoyed, but it would have been nice to have even more hands-on activities like that. There were some neat historical artifacts and paintings, and the museum helped give us a greater understanding of the history of New Orleans. Lots of it was pretty text-heavy, though, so it was difficult to absorb as much as I would have liked while also keeping an eye on my kids. The building itself is gorgeous, and for anyone interested in the history behind New Orleans, I recommend it.
