Probably one of the best places we've stayed in! Our room, #208, was huge and the view out one set of windows looked at St Louis Cemetery #1. It was awesome! Super clean room and staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Location was perfect! Used Curb app for cabs which was about 0.3-0.5 miles away from downtown which only cost about $5-7. Simple!

Quelle at the front desk was very helpful with the whole check in process and made us feel extremely welcomed. The hotel was very nice and clean. The bed was very comfy. The hotel is definitely in walking distance to everything as well as a short uber ride over as well.

This hotel was fantastic! Location was convenient and within walking distance of the French Quarter, the room itself was clean and spacious (walk in shower no tub), and the fact that it's a train with a restaurant and tour section, just adds to a fantastic experience.Walkability: Within close proximity of the French Quarters this place is great.

Very nice place. The only complaint I can say is they need either vending machines, available food service and/or a list of places that will deliver food. My mom has a medical condition and needed a little something but we couldn't find anything because the Chevron station across the street closes at 7.

I'm so glad I found this hidden gem! My room was spacious, clean, and beautiful. It overlooked St Louis Cemetery Number 1, which was really cool. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is within the Basin St Station, so you can catch a cemetery tour or the hop on/hop off bus if that's your thing. Everything in the Quarter is within walking distance. There's a little cafe and gift shop on site, which proved to be handy more than once. Price was very reasonable. I wish the cafe opened earlier than 9, but that would be my only (very minor) complaint. I was impressed with the added security since there are a lot of tourists coming in and out of the building. Key card required for building entry after hours, required for elevator, required for entry to your floor, and of course your room.

Stayed here for a few days last August and I can't say we will be back. First the check-in. The guy was super friendly, but everything took soo long time. He fiddled around with the room keys, holding two together, it didn't work. Went up to the room, went back, clicked on his computer, talked about sightseeing, balblabla. Check-in takes about 45 minutes of your vacation time. Beware of that. Then we came to our room, and hold on wait. No windows? Yeah, you heard right, no windows. So don't be fooled by the pretty pictures on websites. The hotel felt quite empty so no reason for not giving us a room with a window, but who wants to spend 45 minutes again at the desk downstairs? No, you guessed right. The desk guy was with us up in the room showing us around, then opened the fridge. There was food in it! So the cleaning staff uses the room fridges for their food storage. He took the food and apologized. So well, that fridge was not cleaned. So no, we won't be back. Because of the super slow check-in and the room with no window, and for the staff food in the fridge.Rooms: No windows and staff food in fridge.Noteworthy details: 45 minutes check-in time.

First time in New Orleans and I would stay here again! The first floor is a small museum with a gift store and cafe, and all the staff were helpful. The room was in excellent condition and looked well maintained. The location is perfect! Just a few blocks from the French quarter but far away enough to avoid all the noise. We also took the cemetery tour which you conveniently check in at on the first floor. They have staff at the front desk 24/7 so when we would come to our room late, we would ask them for some waters and just apply it to our rooms, super easy. The place felt secure and overall, a great experience!Safety: Well lit and staff available at all times

Hi all of you and from the bottom of my heart thank you!!! I was in NOLA for the Jazz Fest, my stay was eight days. During my stay I was sick with a terrible cold but right off the bat Richard was very helpful during check in when I could barely function. Then I befriended both Mr. Gregory and Jarvis loved them both they cared about and very helpful helping me navigate around the quarters from eating to finding a pharmacy. Jarvis is my son from another father . And Ms Kathy (information desk) showed me so much luv and concern I will miss her. Then there is Mr Albert and Ms Al Marie both either helped me out or made me laugh!! I can't say enough about the staff. Oh yeah and my room was great also, thanks for recommending it Jarvis! Home now and miss you all!!Rooms: Graciously roomy comfortableNearby activities: Near everything you will ever need.Safety: I felt so safe with all the locked entrances and being close to a police station.Walkability: I was able to get to everything on foot but had fast connection to the hop on hop off bus line and close to bike rental.

From the moment we walked into the Brakeman hotel we felt welcomed! Mr. Gregory checked us in and gave us a quick rundown of the best places to eat nearby and walked us through the nearby routes to where we were were wanting to go. The rooms were larger than expected and quiet. We needed a key card to get into the elevator and the hallway on our floor so we felt secure. We didn’t receive daily hotel service but they maid always asked us if we needed anything replenished when she saw us. We also needed a light bulb changed and the staff was quick to take care of that within a few minutes of asking. The afternoon and night staff were awesome and welcomed us and said goodbye every time we left. Our room looked out onto St. Lois Cemetery #1 where we got a Birds Eye view of the tour we took later. We recommend the Hop on Hop off bus located in the lobby as well as the cemetery tour that leaves from the lobby. The coffee shop is there for a quick grab and go coffee or snack between outings.
