My dog is almost 4 years old and I have always taken him to MSAC but unfortunately I am going to have to officially cut ties. They have always been consistent with finding the most expensive ways to cure or help anything, but I will also say the care has also ALWAYS been exceptional. These are very talented and caring vets. So, I dealt with it. However, since they have teamed up with or are now affiliated with The East Riverside Vet Hospital, it's no longer tolerable. Last week I called MSAC to make a reservation to have my dog boarded there for the weekend. The woman who answered the phone told me that my dog was also due for vaccinations. Fine, no problem. They recommend he get quite a few so I asked what he had to have and that was two different ones. They are also the two vaccinations that are required for him to go to his daycare. So, good deal. I am looking at $40 a night to board and two $20 vaccinations. That would be $120 for the weekend. The woman on the phone said that my dog was also due for an annual visit, I asked if I could pass on that for now (my dog has ear infections and sees the vet often), and she said that was no problem. So, before we hung up I reiterated that the total would be $120 and she agreed. Then, I take my dog to drop him off on the way out of town and the woman at the front desk (a different woman I presume) checks him in and says that he's down for two vaccinations and an annual visit. I say that the annual visit was waived, she says they can't do that. So, fine - now I'm up to $180 for the weekend. OK. No problem. While I'm out of town, I get the report for his annual visit. I take a look and see that there are all these extra tests, etc on there that I didn't agree to. So, I call and yes - my total for the weekend (including boarding) is now up to $300. So, after a lengthy convo, I ask to speak to a manager, one calls me back (who was very friendly and helpful) - after explaining everything she reduced my bill back to $190. I do appreciate the effort to remedy this but I have had "surprise" charges the past two times I've boarded. Enough. I had to waste a decent amount of time on my Saturday to try and remedy this, while I was out of town on vacation. It just isn't ok to sneak charges and not ask first. I love my dog and want to do everything for him but not everyone can just make a leap from $120-$300 a weekend with no worries. It's just become too stressful because of costs. Again, the vets are very talented and I do appreciate ALL of the care over the years. It has always been a very expensive place to take my dog, but enough is enough. This was a very hard decision to make.

I really can't imagine a more perfect fit for our senior Labrador retriever than Dr. Jo. She was there for our family during her final years and final tail wags, and with comfort and good advice, perspective and compassion when the time came to say goodbye. Looking back today on the 1-year anniversary of our dear Dia's passing, we thank all the staff for your kindness and care, your easy resources during our grief, and the support and check-ins that continued afterwards. We are lucky to have found you all.

I moved and needed a new vet. I was impressed with how quickly they got my cat in for a checkup. On the first visit Dr Theresa found a polyp deep in my cats ear that no other vet had ever found. She performed a surgery to remove it, and for the first time in years he has stopped scratching endlessly on that ear. I have seen both Dr Theresa and Dr Amy, they are both top notch and provided excellent care for my senior boy! Office is very clean and welcoming and the cost is reasonable, they tell you up front what the charges will run.

My cat died on Friday night and I wasn't informed until nearly twelve hours later. This refused to talk to me about my cat's condition because the rescue I adopted her from was covering the costs of panleukopenia treatment. She died and was too busy to notify the rescue so I could receive a timely notification. No compassion. Protocol could have been broken. I could have received a phone call. My cat is gone. I didn't even get to say goodbye.

We cannot speak highly enough about Magazine Street Animal Clinic! We live in Metairie and usually go to a vet near us, but our little maltipoo got sick in the days after Hurricane Ida and our vet wasn't open. We found our way to Magazine St. Animal Clinic--it was one of the few that was in service at that point--and they were absolutely wonderful! Dr. Johanna Ecke, her technician, and all the staff were patient, thorough and couldn't be more welcoming and professional. Their treatment was spot on, and our dog recovered beautifully. They wrote a complete report that they emailed to us, and offered to email to our regular vet. We are grateful for their wonderful service!

I wish I could give 10 stars. I really really really love food but y'all know our fur babies are on another level and this is the most incredible vet service I have ever been to. It's complicated to establish a pet that has just come from a totally different country but they made our 6 year old rescue beagle feel right at home. She was rescued from a makeup testing facility and has lots of press from that time in her life yet she never seemed the least bit frightened here. The staff is warm, intuitive, and knowledgeable. They explain everything so thoroughly and as I'm writing this out little Bobo is actually hospitalized with them. It's amazing when something so worrying is happening that I could be so calm but that's all because of the professionals at this clinic. They so thoroughly explain their plan and provide so much insight that we completely trust them and have all the faith in the world that they can help our little girl. Just for the details of what kind of service you can expect: when your pet is hospitalized there, they have techs that stay 24/7 to administer medications, check vitals, all of that necessary stuff. They also provide 2 update calls a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) and can arrange for you to get in to see your pet if they have had to spend a few nights there. They not only cover the medical plan with you in detail but are also very upfront about the cost of different types of care and procedures. After each visit, whether it be a regular checkup or a hospitalization, they send you home with detailed paperwork and billing so you can keep track of exactly what was done and when. I'm a nurse and work in a hospital and everything they do here is the same thing we do for our patients and family members. It's really all you can ask for. I'm so glad this place was recommended to us by a neighbor and fellow pet lover

I wouldn't bring these incompetent people a PET ROCK to treat. Our geriatric bulldog has had a hematoma on his ear for 2 months. The treatment plan from these 'vets' is a bunch of prescriptions that are priced exorbitantly. Now the hematoma is spreading down his ear canal as well as to his other ear. When I took him for his follow up, I was told I was there at the wrong time and would be an EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT or I could come back in 40 minutes. How many ways will these people try to extract maximum dollars?? If they had lanced it, drained it & stitched it with a drain, he would be in much less pain, but we would not have had to return for multiple visits. Never have I gotten out of this office for less than $500. Too many veterinarian offices are NO LONGER trying to help animals. They are too focused on HOW MUCH THEY CAN GET for the service, as opposed to WHAT THE SERVICE IS WORTH!!

I brought my dog (a rescue from the streets) into this clinic for intense skin picking and itching. I have a few problems with how this entire encounter went. First, they gave my dog heartworm prevention medication without checking her for heartworm, which is extremely dangerous and could have killed my dog. They did not find any fleas on her despite the fact that there were a plethora of fleas on her which I found shortly after on my dog. When I went to the clinic today, they basically scolded me and told me that the last time she was here, they told us that she had fleas (which was not on her vet record, it said: "fleas suspected but also could be environmental." Like, hello? what kind of vet doesn't check for that kind of stuff? Lastly, I have been trying to order my prescription for my poor flea-infested rescue puppy for 3 weeks now and they keep denying it. I have called several times and everyone is telling me different things. I find the staff here to be quite cold and unhelpful. This should have been the most simple issue. You should have approved the flea medication weeks ago so my dog could be better. I would recommend that the puppy owners get a little more face time with the staff to ask questions as well. I find your entire establishment unprofessional.

Veterinarian Bridget Donavan with Veterinary Technician Victoria gave a 101 on how to be kind, thorough and thoughtful and actually explain everything in detail. I understand it's always busy but to take a breath and just be there makes a world of difference.

We'll, this is my Furry Baby's primary care, and for good reason too! The staff and the doctors are not only knowledgeable but caring and leaves no rock unturned. The only spot that I will take my corgi. They knew just what to do and what to say, and were greatly accommodating. Prices are also affordable and the clinic caters to my taste and expectation of style and cleanliness. You won't regret.

I wish I could speak on the services MSAC offers but I did not get a chance to schedule an appointment online. MSAC is not very accommodating to the visually, speech or hearing impaired customer as it requires all new clients to call their office to schedule an appointment. Nothing on its website addresses the needs of those who cannot or would prefer not to speak over the phone. This is a grave disservice and potential violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. I implore the MSAC to review its policies and update its website to address those with special needs. Once again, I am not criticizing any veterinary services provided by MSAC as I did not get a chance to utilize the services. I am shedding light on the discriminatory appointment scheduling.

Our two dogs are our family. After recently moving to New Orleans to start law school, we needed to find new providers and favorite go-to spots for our dogs. Before moving, out vet in Austin, TX set the bar extremely high in caring for our animals. We are so blessed to have found Magazine Street Animal Clinic. They were able to get us on the schedule within a week of moving to New Orleans. Our dogs immediately struggled with the new allergens and weather. They helped find solutions and provided the necessary care for them to feel their best adjusting. And, we have been able to seamlessly establish new patient care at this new clinic. Their reminder post cards are super cute and helpful with allowing us to make sure we bring our dogs in within the right amount of time to continue their allergy care. Although I never want anything negative to happen to our dogs, I have a peace of mind if god forbid they need emergency care. While in for their first visit, the way they managed other clients and their pets were unmeasurable and with immense empathy. We will be sticking around a long time with this animal clinic!

We've been going to this vet because it always have available appointments. Especially during COVID we don't have much choices. Unfortunately after a few appointments and giving it always another shot, we are taking our dog somewhere else. The second time we went there they mistaken our dog for coming in to be cremated. Luckily, they confirmed with me before taking him back. He is also a puppy and we don't look upset ... so you'd think they'd read the picture better. Its just super off-putting especially when you're doing drop offs during COVID. I was truly terrified to leave him there but, had no choice because we needed his rabies shot before taking off for the summer. The desk people are just not genuine and don't even remember that you were just in the room.. Not very warming for a vet compared to others competitors. The last and FINAL time we went -- our puppy who is very well behaved and calm was a super inconvenience to everyone. They lied and said our appointment was 9:10 instead of 9. Not a problem but, we were checked in 30 minutes later from scheduled time. We were continuously told to pick up our calm dog because other dogs couldn't handle being around other dogs. We were scolded by owners because their dog was super on edge. We were more than happy to accommodate but, the fact the desk assistants were not apologizing for the rude behavior and encouraging us to pick up the dog was super unappealing. We even took a video on how calm our dog was because it was remarkable how calm he was at the vet. Regardless, there is an outside porch and another side of the room to settle your pet. We were told to even move to the other side...Bottom line, I pay a lot of money for not a very welcoming environment. Its just a weird environment and don't appreciate the whole process. I feel like its an easy cash grab, way more options in the neighborhood. The veterinarian was at least always pleasing and nice. But again... when you pay good money for service you expect to feel like you're a client and not an INCONVENIENCE.

My poor Aladdin was hit in the eye by a cat's claw on a Sunday afternoon. I did all I could to help in healing but by Monday morning, it was evident he needed medication. Because he receives his routine care at the SPCA, they do not handle emergency visits. I called around to several vet's in the area and the only one who could get him in same day was Magazine St Animal Clinic. Carson answered the phone and very professional, courteous, and friendly. I felt at ease at once. Arrangements were made to drop Aladdin off that same morning and go pick him up later. Carson would "work him in the schedule". I received phone calls when they first looked at him, asking me thorough questions about his health and care received up to now. I also received a call afterwards from the Veterinarian, discussing care and the treatment plan. I received the last call when it was time to pick him up. I was very satisfied with the entire visit from the initial phone call to paying the bill. Aladdin was taken care of superbly, and with love and kindness. I was even complimented on how sweet of a dog he is, and I couldn't agree more! (He really is a good dog)Thank you staff. Hopefully we won't have any more emergency situations, but if I do, I know where to go.

Been using them for over 4 years and they are great. Very nice, helpful staff and the vets are very open and helpful. Your animals are in great hands here!
