Walked in holding my lamp and they fixed my lamp in under 5 minutes while I held it. Awesome people, were very sweet and helpful! Thanks again

They were so nice - and very professional. He was able to fix the lamp while I waited - and I watched actually. I was worried about the cost - like maybe it needed to be rewired. But he found a light bulb had broken off in one of the sockets. Once he removed that - it worked! He also verified the other two sockets worked.
So happy I came here. I'll be back - and I'll recommend his shop to others. And - there are also many beautiful lighting fixtures for sale. Great find!

Do not know how this place got such high ratings. Walked into a garage full of broken chandeliers and lamps. No one was there. Didn’t see any lamp shades, which was what I needed.

Shades of Light has Very reasonable pricing on lamp repairs. Sometimes they get swamped and you may have to wait a couple weeks for repair work, but they let you know if they are backed up when you drop items off. They are my go to for lighting repairs. The staff are friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. When you walk in you will note that they maintain low overhead costs, working out of a garage of sorts, and it is reflected in the low charges in repairs. The last time I was there they repaired a lamp and a wall sconce for $30 something and most of the cost was for parts. They are conveniently located on Jefferson Highway at the big curve. I used to go to Clement Hardware for repairs, but they no longer provide the service. They referred me to Shades of Light. Shades of Light also sells old lamps, chandeliers, and light fixtures. If you are looking for unique lamps and chandeliers, you need to check out Shades of Light. I give them a big thumbs up on both repairs and retail.

I had brought an expensive vintage, British-made Herbert Terry 1227 Anglepoise Lamp to them for rewiring, and they destroyed the lamp. It was in excellent condition when I purchased it and when I gave it to them to work on, and now it is complete garbage and nonfunctional. Hundreds of hard-earned dollars down the drain. Do not trust these people with your vintage lamps (unless you have a free hand-me-down that you don't care too much about). They are extremely incompetent and dishonest.

I have ordered three light fixtures from Shades of Light. The first was their French country chandelier, the second and third were variations of its Trellis Cage lighting. Each as shown and described are not what was delivered. The French country chandelier was not white washed but primarily (90%) gold. The Trellis Cage are shown and described as including gold, there was none. If you want a fixture with a certain patina and not simply, brass, chrome or nickel, based on my experience, you will not get it. You instead will have the hassle of returning it.

I needed a new shade for a vintage lamp, and these folks helped me find a terrific replacement! They have a great selection and couldn't be more helpful. I have a number of lamps that need repair, too, and I am delighted to have a place to take them now.

Shades of Light restored my grandmother's art deco crystal lamps. When I took them in I was hoping they could be rewired and get new harps and shades. They were bought in the 30's and looked every inch of their age. When I picked them up I was stunned to see how beautiful they were and they looked brand new, now they grace my formal dining room. I am grateful to these professionals and highly recommend them to any one.
