I like this location. Very clean. Ridiculous to charge for a bag. I started to avoid shopping here unless completely necessary and this just solidified my not returning. It's not the amount, it's really the principle. The prices are higher here for everything already. Everyone sells the refrigerator food CHEAPER. WHAT'S 9.99 HERE IS 7.29 down the street at Walmart and cheaper at Winn Dixie 7.99.

To update on our previous Dee Dee Martin review of Petco. I am posting a review under my fiancé Kerry Davis’ account. For some reason, that’s how it came up when I clicked “write review”. The groomer who made our experience so bad is no longer there and I believe we can work with the manager Christine just fine. We will probably be going back since Aiden, Paul, Veronica and Jennifer are top professionals who provide friendly and knowledgeable service. I forgot to mention how wonderful these four people have been to us. Thank you Aiden, Paul, Veronica and Jennifer. Here’s 4 stars for these 4 guys

We have been frequenting Petco on Tchoupitoulas in Nola for over 2 years. We are signed up for the fish and dog rewards. I shop there probably twice a week & spend a lot of $$$. At one time, this Petco had a wonderful, friendly & extremely knowledgeable staff. Michael, Melissa, Sunshine & Jeff. They were not only brilliant but fun to work with AND the inventory was always full! Several months ago, they hired a manager named Christine! Christine is NOT friendly at all. She literally has a stern stoic look on her face at all times. I’m very outgoing and greet and speak to everyone. I don’t think she’s ever greeted me, let alone smiled.. EVER. Very shortly after Christine was hired, my friendly core staff who greeted everyone with smiles and the eagerness to assist, started quitting one by one because of the new managers crass attitude. Michael, Melissa, Jeff and Sunshine left. This is also when the inventory became very scarce! I often have to order from Amazon ! I enjoyed this Petco for a few reasons: 1. it’s a few blocks from our home. 2. they had everything needed and most importantly 3. You were always welcomed by the friendly and Uber knowledgeable people.
Fortunately, I made a lifelong friend with Melissa, so that’s awesome. She actually encouraged me to continue my loyalty with Petco. She said “give it a go”, so I did I because of the location convenience and one employee, Veronica, who stayed on. However, I was constantly telling Veronica how disappointed I was in the manager and the lack of inventory. Then young Aiden, the fish expert was hired, so I decided to give it yet another shot… until today! Today, my tolerance was depleted. I had a grooming appointment for 8:15am, and got there promptly. They don’t open til 9am, so I knocked and finally got them to answer the phone. 10 minutes later, they came to open the doors. Totally fine.
But, again, I had to explain the cut to them which they should have in their notes. They’ve groomed him many times. They’re suppose to be the professionals!!!
I haven’t had this particular groomer, Harley,(same name as my fur baby), before .. so when she began asking what to do, I asked why they didn’t keep notes in the computer! I’ve asked this several times in the past. Well she began elevating herself and putting down the other groomers. So, as I’m reiterating what to do on Harley, she’s pompously bragging that she just came from Denver and has been grooming for 16 years and that shes having to “redo” everything because no one took notes, no one did a good job. All this in a cocky way, oh and no smile! No good morning. Of course, like all dogs going to the vet or groomer, fur Harley is nervous and pees on the floor. He’s peed EVERY SINGLE TIME at this Petco and at his previous private groomers. I tell her and she points to the cleaning supplies and says “there’s the cleaning stuff, clean it up” . I have NEVER been asked to clean it up. In fact, I’ve always offered and started to but am always told “oh no, we got this, it happens all day”. But I grab the towels and lay them out over the urine. I made sure it was absorbed into the brown paper towels. I pick up Harley and hand him to groomer Harley. I say thank you and begin to leave. She stops me abruptly and says “finish cleaning that up”. It was the tone! The bossiness! The utter unfriendliness. That was it for me. I should have stopped being a loyal customer when Christine was hired but today was the day. This groomer was not just unfriendly but talking down about your fellow employees is a big no no for me. Then to speak to me in such a tone… NO! Also, on our “next door” app for our neighborhood, there was a post just a few days ago from someone who said that there was a dog in the grooming department yelping, screaming, crying and that he/she was being neglected which they viewed as abuse. I’m not leaving my dog with them, especially this groomer!
I would have given this Petco 5 stars when Michael, Melissa, Sunshine and Jeff were there but now it gets the lowest rating.

The woman was extremely rude and nasty

Terrible service from the grooming department. They cancelled my appointment a few hours before on the day of the appointment because they weren’t able to handle the volume of dogs that were on the schedule. Don’t bother booking with them in the afternoon, they apparently overbook in the mornings and will wait until the last minute to inform you that they can’t accommodate your dog. So wildly unprofessional.

Lacks a saltwater fish section and workers are not friendly they didn’t open the door and instead demanded that you purchase something to enter at that point you should just order online. Visited 2/4/24
