Jefferson Feed Mid-City
309 N Carrollton Ave #1N, New OrleansJefferson Feed Mid-City literally saved my and my puppies' lives! I traveled from NYC to adopt two beautiful puppies in New Orleans from Take Paws Rescue (also wonderful!). On my brother's recommendation, we went straight to Jefferson Feed Mid-City for supplies the moment after I picked them up. On the way there, they were (understandably) terrified and had accidents in the car. They then proceeded to be more terrified as we got to the parking lot and I brought them into the store. They were filthy and covered with all kinds of horrible things, and I don't know what I'm doing, so they ran out of their leashes and were truly creating a disaster across the store. A very kind associate working there scooped up the puppies and put them in a shopping cart for me and consoled them with treats while I explained I had no idea what I was doing (I also meant to only get one puppy but here we are). She helped me go all over the store picking out wonderful toys, food, bowls, cushions, and everything they would need for our multi-day drive back to NYC. And they have a DIY grooming area and when I went back there with the pups it was obvious I didn't know what I was doing, and this wonderful person from Jefferson Feed rolled up her sleeves and helped me wash and dry them both, explaining how to do it the whole time.I honestly wanted to weep with gratitude, and still do just thinking about it! She easily spent an hour with us and I will never forget it. We still buy the food she recommended, and use all the supplies. The toys she suggested also truly remain my puppies' favorites many months out. Thank you SO much.Everyone go to Jefferson Feed Mid-City!! What a heartwarming experience to encounter such kindness in the world.Thank you, truly.

Scissor Me whiskers
6105 Magazine St, New OrleansWe just took a road trip to Pensacola and then NoLa with our pooches and the weather turned out to be much warmer than was forecasted. This presented a challenge for our standard poodle who was scheduled to be groomed when we returned and as such had a quite thick winter coat since we are from NJ. We did a quick search on Google Maps and found Scissor Me Whiskers which is located a couple of blocks from Audubon Park and was close to the place we rented. When we called, we were helped by Caleb, who said they could absolutely accommodate us first thing in the morning when they were next open. Having the first appointment was important to us since our dog deals with significant anxiety and Caleb said he would have no problem catering to our big boy’s unique personality. Upon arriving for our appointment, Caleb made us and our pooch feel very comfortable and did a fabulous job grooming him. We will definitely bring our doggie to Scissor Me Whiskers for a grooming the next time we are in the area with our boys. Thanks again, Caleb! It was so lovely to meet you and we are very grateful for the special care you gave to Monty <3

The Cat Practice
1809 Magazine St, New OrleansWhile I am heartbroken from the loss of my cat of 13 years, who I adored and loved more than anything on this planet, Dodson and her team made me feel that I sought help in the right place. It took a few days, but in my heart I felt that the advice and options laid out for me were honest and diverse. Binx never handled the vet well, but she did good with the team at TCP and though I balled my eyes out at their facility, they took time to comfort me and have made follow ups feel personal and professional. I received a handwritten card this week in the mail that moved me, as it was a first experience to have with a Vet office. I miss her terribly, but the card helped me feel a little more at peace. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make all the difference to some. I am grateful.

All Star Animal Clinic
2800 Orleans Ave, New OrleansThis clinic is THE clinic to bring your animal. I am beyond grateful and completely over the moon at how easily Dr. Diggs and everyone else there made our first litter experience such a great one, especially on such short notice! And when I say short notice, I mean we went in for Pebbles’s (our Frenchie) ultrasound one morning, they ran a reverse progesterone test afterwards to find her birthing date, and then they were able to fit her in for her C-Section the following morning! Dr. Diggs was spot on at how many puppies she was going to have and the date she was ready for her C-Section. All her puppies are as healthy as can be and she herself is healing quickly, getting her energy back, and now has her appetite again. She’s back to her silly chunky self. We will continue to bring our dogs here for the special services they provide as we live in Houma and none of the vets around us provide Ultrasounds or scheduled C-Sections without spaying afterwards. Also, their prices are phenomenal! Words can not express how happy I am with All Star Animal Clinic! Thank y’all so much again!

Metairie Small Animal Hospital - Lakeview Clinic
734 Allen Toussaint Blvd, New OrleansWhat has happened…..My pets have always been under the care of MSAH. Dr. Renee is incredible and shows compassion regarding our animals. Melinda is the sharpest, well honed office manager my family has ever dealt with. That’s good on the Vet service and spot on with staff like Melinda. However, the Lakeview MSAH is extremely busy, especially since grooming terminated at the Metairie location. Things have changed in the last couple of years. The Lakeview MSAH is clearly bombarded with new patients and new pets to be groomed. It’s a shame to enter any place and see the staff burdened with an overload of people and pets. I’m disappointed that MSAH can’t provide enough employees to keep this gem of a Vet going. I know the economy is in despair currently, but people still need pet care. This type of business is not impacted by our distorted economy. That said, bring on the employees MSAH central. Don’t let a good location be in need of assistance. I look forward to see and feel less stress when MSAH central fixes this problem. ?

920 Gravier St, New OrleansA lot of the food choices that I made during my first visit to New Orleans was by recommendation. And I must say I have never been let down in any of the recommendations I received while in New Orleans and this was no different. Showed up without a reservation they were able to still get my wife and I seated in 20 something minutes. Everywhere I go I always get French toast this is one of the first places they've given me two slices as you can see how big the bread is this was a massive brunch meal. My wife made her own omelette and added multiple options she could not finish that. Not pictured was the lemonade would I believe cucumber and something else. Thank God it was bottomless cuz I was crushing it. I am officially going to be on a diet once I return home but everything is great eat it and figure it out later.

Plume Algiers
1113 Teche St, New OrleansWhat a find. Definitely part of New Orleans' new wave of great cuisine. Indian food is not one that I usually think of as very innovative, but I was wrong. This place definitely changed my mind - Plume is innovative, and it is great. The banana chaat is a marvel of savory-sweet-spicy, an eye-opening dish for $12. I forget the sauce that came with the sardine dish, tamarind I believe, but the savors were deceptively complex for such a simple-looking dish ($14 I think). The naan is made in front of you and yes, naan too, as simple a staple as it is, can be creative. This one is (get the cheese version). All the dishes were awesome, and the atmosphere is cosy in a well-appointed space. A great destination for those lucky enough to live in the New Orleans area, and if you are visiting, add Plume to your itinerary along with a visit to Algiers' Point and you'll have a great day.

Welty's Deli and Catering
201 St Charles Ave, New OrleansWelty's used to have its own place in the CBD but is now in the food court of Place St Charles. But don't put it in the "food court" category. It's a classic deli, with a very distinct NOLA vibe. The sandwiches are LOADED with meat, and very good. I haven't had any of their specials - I go there when I want a corned beef or pastrami sandwich. Actually, yesterday it was their California Club, which as great, and I should not have eaten the whole thing all at once. I always dine in, and I always love listening to the interactions between the staff and the customers. It's a bit odd to be in a "food court" and hear so many "Here ya go my love" or "Hey baby, where you been?" with almost every customer being treated like long-time customers (which, apparently, many of them are). I swear, I think every sentence I hear either starts with, or ends with( or both), a great term of endearment. Everyone working there seems to really love what they do. Seriously, if you closed your eyes, you'd think you were sitting in a neighborhood diner. Being on the 2nd floor of an office and retail building, it's easy to forget about, but if you're looking for a great sandwich and some love, this is your place.
