I stayed here in 2019. 10 minute showers, can't wear your own clothes to bed. Have to sit through church to get dinner. Have to leave at 6am and line up to come back at 4pm. Hardcore indoctrination. Feels like a cult.Daily they separate you from your stuff. One of these days, someone on staff stole my hoodie and they told me they can't recover my hoodie but they'll keep the cameras on my stuff.Because of this, I wanted to keep my wallet nearby, even if it was locked up away from me in the same building. They told me I could give them my wallet or I could sleep on the street.I gave them my wallet.I'm not religious but I needed help. The daily church was bothering me because it's not my belief and I worked as a psychic. Once I told one of the head women this, she started being combative and finally got me kicked out on the street. This was a truly poisonous place and a horrible experience.

They don't allow you too have a job while staying there and they only offer 21 consecutive days unless you agree too become a disciple and work for something too eat and a place too sleep ; not too mention people roam the floors all night because they are high on drugs so you will never get any sleep .

My experience was not good. They do not allow phones and said phones were not allowed where the women sleep but all the staff had phones there so that was like. Also I have a job and the lady staff was looking at me like I was lying when I told them that the box cutter I had was for work but she was making comments like I carried it to defend myself. It's a box cutter, it's used to open boxes. And they also don't allow women to keep proper hygiene like shave and douche to keep ourselves clean.I follow the Lord too and I know some of these rules are not God's way at all. Some places like this just make rules to control people which is sad ?

If it’s listed as a “Homeless Shelter”, be a shelter for the homeless. They referred me to a different place. Because they aren’t a shelter.

Ignorant staff. They talk a good line. Nowone is educated beoune a GED. My brothers were great. This is a Jesus cult. Men walking around with open Bibles. I made friends with Cfajb and Trigg. The were crirical thinkers. I have PhD in Clinical Psychology. They said that they don't believe in Psychology but they are behaving like it.Food and shelter.

Someone I know is currently staying there. I was shocked to learn from his mother that the staff will not permit him to take his psych meds even though he is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia.Even more disturbing is the fact that staff members have assigned the derogatory nickname “The Pacer” to him because of his constant pacing - a sign of his mental illness. Apart from this being unprofessional, it is just plain mean and speaks volumes about the quality of personnel who pretend to be loving, caring Christians. The hypocrisy is astounding.I work for an organization that provides mental health care to incarcerated persons. As you might imagine, the clinical staff deal with extreme cases of mental illness on a daily basis. It’s exhausting, frustrating, often dangerous work, but they do it because they care. During my time at this company I have NEVER heard any of them make fun of mentally ill patients or assign them nicknames.Last week the mother of this person asked to see him so that he could sign power of attorney papers for him so that she could manage his disability paperwork. Not only did they refuse to let her see him, they told her that since he has been approved to draw disability, he has to give New Orleans Mission a substantial portion of his payments. How exactly does this help him find his way out of the predicament of homelessness? Is it fair to call New Orleans Mission a homeless shelter even though rent is apparently required to stay there?New Orleans Mission is the antithesis of what it claims to be on its website. WWJD if a destitute guy asks for temporary aid? Apparently lock him up, strip him of mental healthcare, and give him a derogatory nickname while simultaneously helping himself to the guy’s sole source of income.
