This was an interesting place with a lot of articles, and pictures, and of course dead, stuffed animals and a lot of interesting things about death. I do not recommend all ages but it seems all ages are let in. So no age limit but it is not appropriate for all ages. There is a lot of information on serial killers and some of the pictures are very graphic so not for the weak. There is a small movie theater that runs in the very back. It’s small but is jam packed with lots to see and read. No photo taking is allowed.

I had a good time here. The museum is basically a big room in the back with different cordoned off sections about different topics. This can be tough topics for some people so please visit with caution. Nothing very gory but the stories and pictures could freak some out.I'm just giving it for 4 stars because it seemed a little expensive at $17 a person.

An impactful experience. It was certainly unique. The Museum's title, gift shop, and foyer entrance preempt you to the style of experience that awaits. Note: You are not allowed to take photos while inside. There are provocative displays of serial killer artwork and memorabilia, simultaneously fascinating and distatsteful. Of course, depictions of death of victims and some well-known figures. I particularly enjoyed the historical portion of past mortician devices, Victorian grief dolls and rings, as well as the taxidermy section in the beginning. It was my first time seeing a six toed cat.

It is one of the closest museums to my hotel, and it caught my attention. If you don't plan to read anything and if you don't enjoy seeing death people in images or videos, then I don't think you should visit... entry is close to $20, rather pricy for what's exhibited.**Some Jeff Dahmer, the serial killer, exhibits are there. Some funeral home tools and funeral options.A theater room at the back with a 20-30 min long clip... I sat through most of it but couldn't finish it showing how and why and stat of death in history... interesting place

I dragged my husband to New Orleans just to go to this museum. It did not disappoint. New Orleans was kind of meh but this museum was amazing. I spent 2.5 hours looking at everything and could have spend much, much longer. Granted, I am fascinated by & enjoy researching what most people find to be "creepy" (serial killers, cults, true crime, death, etc). I got a kick out of seeing the Time Life books & trading cards in the serial killer area, since I own those as well! Thank you so much for this museum, I loved it!

Do not go ! Not because it's gross etc because it's a waste of TIME and MONEY! you have limited time if you are on vacation spend it at another museum. I'm serious!Only go if you are a serial killer fan person. There are so many other cool things to see and do this is not it. I thought I've "got to go to this !" I did and they have merch thar say "I passed out at the museum of Death" I threw up at the museum of Death" but they really need one that says I wasted TIME and money there!!! cause I did!!!

Cute, small self guided museum. Pictures of the exhibits are not permitted. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The collection includes taxidermy, artifacts such as death masks and embalming tools, as well as a large collection of handwritten letters and artwork by notorious murderes. The museum is self guided but will probably willtake about 30 minutes to peruse.

We went expecting maybe some displays regarding burial rituals, true crime explanations, and perhaps some stories detailing ways people had died from various causes. We expected scentific dives into how people die or unique stories of unfortunate events. It is a museum about death. However, I left feeling like I supported an establishment that glorifies serial killers, has no respect for victims of violence, and relies on shock factor to draw people in.The museum showcases crime scene images of women stripped naked, tied up, and suffocated with plastic bags. One of the films displayed in the theater showed images of an infant decapitated by its own mother, a young child's corpse who had been stranged, and the body of another infant thrown from an 11 story building. It was a revolting experience and I regret supporting the business with my money.

I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this exhibit heavily glorified serial killers and seemed disrespectful to the victims. There were gory images of Sharon Tate taken from the crime scene and the underwear and bra of Aileen Wuornos from her time on death row hanging in a shadow box.If you are a crime junkie who believes in respecting the victims and not using their lives for entertainment, this is not the museum for you!

Should be zero stars! I work in the funeral industry so I was excited to see this, but we only stayed here a short while because it was so bad. More like a collection of random shrines to serial killers and grotesque murder/death imagery. Very little context given to the culture around death and dying, and some questionable treatment of the victims. This felt very disrespectful and wasn’t worth the cost.

Not worth spending more than 30 mins here, and the staff is particularly unfriendly as well.

It's a cluttered mess of a variety of newspaper cutouts and exhibit items related to serial killers, war, and other tragedies. Cool to look around in, but especially at the $20 steep price tag, it was very much not worth it for what you get out of it. Cut the price, organize the exhibits better, and make the readings less dense. Feels like you're reading wikipedia articles at many points. And the text is small. There's a small movie in the back that repeats episodes (from the 1980s?) of a dude showing you murder victims that's pretty metal. Just pull it up on YouTube.

I am drawn to the morbid. Lovesld the stuff about serial killers, especially the binder of the actual psychiatric assessment, and handwritten letters with them sounding mostly normal. Seemed like they loved to talk about themselves and gain sympathy. One was too affectionate sounding, another was too prurient, but most were normal. Real shrunken heads, embalming equipment.
