The gym has real grit and lots of talent to work with. Definitely has a old school feel to it. Lots of room to work and has all the boxing stations required.

Mike is the owner of the gym and a former Marine— All Veterans are allowed at Friday Night Fight’s events free of charge. Mike is originally from Connecticut and has a heck of a Yankee personality, him and his dog (Mr. T) are an amazing pair. Mike may come off as rough at first but it’s because he offers such great prices and has been in boxing A LONG TIME; he’s a solid dude. He moved to New Orleans in 2005 and has been committed to the sport and the city ever since. I trained at his gym for many months and got into the best shape of my life. Mike nicknamed me, “The Psycho” and he was always willing to tell me how it was/he always pushed me to do better.

There was a lot of false advertisement in the way they are promoting this event. All of the pictures advertised it as an outdoor event where you can bring your own seating. That was how the event was hosted in the past. However, when we got there, it was indoors in an extremely tight space. We were also not allowed to bring out own seats like advertised or like its been in the past. They more interested in meddling hundred dollar seats. They can keep that up but will end up losing hundreds of fans. They should advertise this event for what it is because the entire way it was run last light was a hot bloody mess. Unorganized and misleading. Oh, and might I add the numerous times the organizers pulled cops up with him to threaten people who were clearly confused about exactly what they were getting into because, again, this event was falsely advertised. And if I here him mention "$100 seats" one more time, imma scream.

I know my 14 year old kid needs accountability, learn to be respectful, practice self control emotions, and training to get his rage into a punch bag and stay out of trouble. This place seems to be the place to work with you once you pay in cash for the sessions and they’ll get you a trainer the next day for 7 days a week.

Terrible management and deeply uncomfortable environment. Went in to inquire about trainers. Seems the more questions I had the more agitated the guy got. There was also a loose dog running around that the guy had to tell me i had to “watch that dog”. I simply wanted to consult with a trainer but there weren’t any trainers there for me to talk to and possibly schedule a consultation. The guy instead got agitated and told me not to worry about trainers just pay him money and he’d find me one. This was hard to trust so I didn’t do it.

I've been involved in boxing since 1996. Almost every aspect (pro boxer, coach, referee, gym owner, promoter). I own a boxing gym, but was in New Orleans for work and trained here. The owner Mike is legitimate in the sport dating back well over 20 years and if you talk to him and start dropping names, you'll see he's easy to verify. The gym has everything it needs. There's a lot of frauds in this sport. Don't take a chance - train here. 100% verified.

THE MOST FUN I've had on a Friday night in New Orleans in quite some time. A few food and drink vendors outside of the event in case you need a snack or bev. You're getting SO much more than boxing at one of their events! Amateur boxing, drag queens, dance krewes? Yes, yes and yes! This is a must see event, and not for those whose stomach is easily turned...this is the real deal!
