I recently had the pleasure of staying at Federal City Inn and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff at this hotel are simply outstanding—extremely nice, attentive, and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels like a VIP.
Whether it was helping with special requests, offering great local recommendations, or just checking in to make sure everything was perfect, the team here truly made my stay memorable. It's clear that they genuinely care about their guests and are passionate about providing top-notch service.
The rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable, with all the amenities you could need. The ambiance of the hotel was both welcoming and luxurious, making it the perfect place to unwind.
What really sets this hotel apart, however, is the people who work here. Their dedication to making sure every guest has an exceptional stay is what will keep me coming back. If you're looking for a place where you’ll feel truly cared for, look no further. This is hospitality at its finest!
Highly recommended!

The staff i encountered was very friendly and helpful. The room is outdated and not in the best of shape but it was doable. They dont have real comforters like most hotels, just duvets which were extremely thin that they put in between two sheets. My duvet had a burn hole and stains on it and the fact that they put it in between the sheets makes me feel like housekeeping knew and hoped i wouldn't have looked. I only looked because i went to the front desk to let them know i didn't have anything but sheets on my bed only to find out there is a duvet they consider as the top layer of the bedding. The tv was rigged up on one side on top of the cable box. The light next to it didn't work. When housekeeping came i gave her the duvet and told her that all i needed was a new one and even though i handed it into her hands, when i got back later she put the EXACT SAME ONE BACK ON MY BED AS IF SOME KIND OF WAY I WOULDN'T KNOW. The light in the bathroom had to be cut on more than once sometimes for the actual light to come on and even then the light was really dim so i had to leave the door halfway open. I tried to cook but they only had two saucers that were in a cabinet that didnt look clean enough to attempt to even wash and use them plus i needed a skillet. They only had two skillets one that was big enough to fix only one individual burger which I didn't need and the bigger one i did need had burn stains and black stains and all kinda stuff in it so i had to throw my meat away because i literally had nothing to cook in so bring ya own pots and pans and can openers and whatever u need. The carpet was really really dirty my socks are the proof. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot, but the tub was old and had alot of sealant around the inside and the shower wouldn't stay put it kept going back to the original place it was in. The toilet rocked a little everytime I sat on it but it worked. It had alot of rust around it and needs to be reseated again. There is no air vent in the bathroom so be prepared. The heat and air worked fine and so did the fridge. The room had a old bleach washcloth smell so i burned an incense but they made me put it out although I explained that the room had an odor to it.
Safety: It seemed like a safe area really close to the ferry so that was very convenient.

Perfect to stay in a quiet place but very close to the French Quarter with the ferry. We got very interesting ideas of what to see around in New Orleans, the woman at the desk was very helpful. I recommand.

Worst Hotel experience in my entire life. We got this near to the Port and 15 mins away from. The location is very secluded. The room we were given was very bad. It smelled really bad, musty. Complaining about it , I was given a cleaning spray to make room better. We had booked the hotel beforehand . We reached hotel after 11-12 hr drive and was not in condition to search for new hotel because the service was so bad. My son developed breathing issue by morning. STAY AWAY from this hotel

The hotel is great, but it's in need of love. What I want to say with this is that there are a lot of things that need small fixes from a handyman and it needs to have a furniture update, think of grandma's house, that the feeling you get when you first see the room.
The location is good if you are looking for a quiet and safe area, across the river from downtown, but this will make you feel in a remote part of the city as nothing is happening on the streets nearby.
It was easy to get around by car, and there was plenty of free parking on-site, but it was hard to get around by using public transport.
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the check-in and check-out process was smooth.
The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It had a kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator, stove, and kitchenware, which is very convenient if you want to prepare meals.
The bed was cozy, and the air-conditioning worked well.
The bathroom was clean, but the tap was loose and I always had the impression I will remain with it in my hand when I was switching to shower mode.
The Wi-Fi was fast (for US standards, for Europe it was painfully slow) and reliable, and the flat-screen TV had many channels to choose from.
The hotel does not have a pool, a fitness center, or a restaurant!
There were some vending machines for snacks and drinks.
Overall, I had a great stay at Federal City Inn & Suites, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget-friendly and comfortable hotel in New Orleans. It was a good value for the money, and I would definitely stay here again.
Rooms: Rooms are big and you have your own heating/colling unit. You have a table to eat at, but you also have a desk where you can put your laptop.

I stayed at FCI for a week during carnival/Mardi Gras. The good: friendly staff for the most part. Reasonable rates for Mardi Gras. The walk along the levee to Algiers ferry felt pretty safe. The bad: there was a door down the staircase that closed so violently it sounded like a shotgun blast and even shook the room sometimes. I told the nice woman at the front desk but four, five days later it still had the same problem. The slamming of the door would usually wake me up twice each night. The room doors could also be pretty loud. As far as location: there is nothing in the area which a “redevelopment zone” so if you’re without a car walking to a restaurant, coffeehouse, or grocery is not really possible. The laundry room machines only accept coins however when I asked the clerk to make change for me she said she couldn’t, so I had to walk half a mile to the gas station to get coins. If you’re looking for a cash saver and have a car it’s maybe not a bad deal, but I don’t have plans to stay there again.

for price it’s an amazing deal. you get a kitchen and the rooms are a nice size. the only concerning thing is the management team. got there and waited over 20 minutes for check in; next day the rude desk lady didn’t want to extend the reservation as i was told i can do it but she was very persistent that i couldn’t and had an attitude when i said the rules were different. anyways brittany and brandy were amazing but the other lady needs to be fired ?.

DON'T STAY HERE! We made the mistake of booking a room here on New Year's Eve because of exorbitant prices downtown due to the Sugar Bowl the next day. We booked two rooms, spending more than $600 for one night, due to demand pricing. First off, the hotel is an old Navy barracks isolated in the middle of a former military base. There are no restaurants or other amenities within walking distance. Once you get inside, you realize there is no elevator to the second floor. So you have to haul all your bags up the stairs. When we asked for extra blankets, we were only given one, as that was all they had in stock. But the coup de grace lay in wait for us in the bathroom. In one of our rooms, the bathroom light and fan were controlled by a single switch. When you flipped it on, it turned on both the light and the fan, which emitted what sounded like the call of a strangling goose. The 80 decibels of ungodly screeching never went away, no matter how long you waited. So we were forced to use the bathroom with our iphone flashlights or the door cracked. When we complained about the situation to the front desk, the staff person merely wrote a note in her notebook. She made no attempt to accommodate us in another room or call in a maintenance person. She wouldn't even come to the room to examine the situation. The next day, we complained again to the manager. She wouldn't examine the fan either and simply smirked as I described the situation. She made no offer of a discount or refund, saying that we had the option the night before to check out and find another hotel. This option was never presented to us, but was our responsibility to request, according to the manager. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years and cannot imagine treating a guest with such indifference and lack of concern. In addition, the hotel walls are thin, and there are many scuff marks on the walls and furniture, showing an apparent lack of maintenance by hotel staff.Don't stay here, whatever you do. Life is too short for bad hotels with uncaring staff and management.Rooms: The rooms are in disrepair with marks on walks and on furniture. Walls are thin.Nearby activities: There are no hotels or other amenities within walking distance. Algiers and the ferry are about a 30 minute walk.Walkability: The hotel is isolated in the middle of a former military base. There are no amenities withing walking distance.

This is by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I've been in hospitality/customer service my entire career. I am familiar with good customer service.First: check in: the attitude of the front desk clerk was very evident. It's as if I was disturbing her. She was in the back on the computer. I had to make my presence known before she acknowledged us. The room was ok. I knew not to expect much for the price. But I at least expect not to have to hunt down extra towels because the front desk clerk is sitting in her car instead of behind the desk. She spent more time in her car that evening than she did at the desk.Secondly, there is no housekeeping. Our room was not attended to. No fresh towels. The basic things you expect during a hotel stay. On night 2 , I had a medical situation that I needed to get back in my room immediately for. They keys did not work. Why make keys for one night if the reservation is for 2. So while I sat on the floor in the hall, my cousin had to hunt down the front desk clerk who again was in her car (putting on makeup) and had an attitude with my cousin as if she was somehow an inconvenience to her.On the morning of check out, when housekeeping finally showed up. They didn't knock or announce themselves before trying to enter the room. Luckily, I had the security lock on. After a less than pleasant check out (clerk was on the phone (speaker) no less with a family member or friend the entire time. Very unpleasant. When I realized I had left my retainer in the room after I had left the property, I called to inform them of what I left. That it was a high value item and that I would return for it within the hour. This information was never communicated with maintenance or housekeeping. Instead of putting it in lost and found, it was thrown away. I had to dig through the trash in the dumpster to try and find it. To no avail. $500 retainer gone. With not as much an apology for the inconvenience of having to Uber back and forth multiple times only to come up empty-handed.The entire staff had a miserable attitude. No one had a hospitality spirit or even the desire to do their job. This place needs an extreme overhaul. Employees need to be trained or replaced. Your job as a front desk clerk is to make the customers stay as pleasant as possible. They failed horribly. I do not recommend staying here, ever.Rooms: Very VERY basic. Do not expect anything other than a place to lay your head or use the bathroom.
