The mechanic told me Oder the part after when I come with the parts say don’t want to work in my car because is to much work. That mechanic is stupid.

This gas station is the way gas stations are supposed to be. Great service and very professional. Best station you can go to for all your needs.

I’ve been a customer of Rodger’s for years. They’re done lots of repairs for me. I truly trust him and his mechanic. One of the best. I highly recommend them.

This shop is way overpriced. He will rip you off and smile in your face. He would not answer my questions about pricing. He said he’d let me know. He did the job with my approval of pricing and slammed me with an outrageous price

These gentlemen are great! I needed a tire. They took care of me at a very good price and also checked a few other things that might cause a problem eventually. For the things they can't do themselves they have been able to refer me to other shops that I'm sure I can trust. Glad I found them and will definitely be back!

Old school service with a smile from long-time owner, Roger, and his mechanic. Like going back to Mayberry!

The owner Roger is a great guy. He is technically no longer a full service station but make the effort with his regulars to check their fluids and share a friendly conversation. The prices of the gas are little higher than others in the area, but good service has a price and I don't mind paying a little more for the service. Speaking of service. There is service station at this stop, where you can get an oil change, tires and other non specialty services. No convenience store type food options here, but they do have a drink machine and there's a corner grocery store on the same block. If you get your car serviced here and it's going to take a while for the repair, I advise having someone pick you up as the waiting area is rather small. I like this nod to nostalgic that is this station and if in the area in need of gas, you should stop by and say hi to Rodger.

Mr. Roger has been on-site at this location for 52 years; long before this station was even a Chevron. (I think it was a Gulf station back in the day). However, even though I grew up in Gentilly, I was not a regular customer of this station as I lived on the "south side" of Gentilly in Edgewood Park; but I digress. Quite recently, I found out that my dad, who still lives in Gentilly, is a regular customer here. I decided to patronize Roger's last week, for no other reason that my feelings of nostalgia. Gas prices are a little higher than most, but this station is the northern most station on Franklin Avenue and convenient for the locals. Furthermore, the owner (Mr. Roger) is on-site every day. Aside from fuel, Roger's has a full time Mechanic (Jerry) on-site with a 2 bay garage and an extra lift outside. I have never had any mechanic work performed here and I have no idea what Jerry's certifications are; however, I would probably limit my services to oil changes, filter changes, brake jobs, belt changes or tire repairs. And speaking of tire repairs, on Saturday (12/9/17), I noticed my low air pressure light came on when I started my car. Since I had just aired them up the previous week, I knew it was a nail, screw or puncture and not simply the cold weather. Low and behold, there was a screw in my tire. Ugh! I aired it up and drove straight to Roger's. It was already after 4 PM and Jerry was not there. However, Mr. Roger, who definitely knows his way around a car, told me he would repair it using a patch/plug, also known as a mushroom plug. A patch/plug, also known as a mushroom plug, is a tire repair that is made from the inside of the tire similar to a traditional patch. It consists of a vulcanized rubber patch with a plug affixed to it. The inside of the tire is cleaned, buffed & cemented, and the plug is then pulled through from the inside until the patch seals the inside of the tire. Then the plug is cut even with the tread. This method completely fills the path the nail or screw took and prevents moisture reaching the steel belts and/or cords which would cause them to rust or deteriorate. Furthermore, where the patch/plug or mushroom plug meets the road, it it also strengthens the tread. In my opinion, a tire plug should only be used to make a repair when no other means of a proper repair are possible, as any repair attempted without removing the tire from the wheel is not a good idea because if you don't inspect the inside inside of the tire for damage, you are taking the risk of driving on a repaired tire that has been structurally weakened. The repair was done in a timely manner and Mr. Roger engaged me in conversation during the entire repair process. He's a very nice man and is running an honest business. I look forward to coming back real soon.

I was extremely disappointed by the service I received even though Roger came in highly recommended. After discussions with Roger on my A/C issues, we found that my compressor needed to be replaced. We agreed that I'd purchase all the parts (OEM compressors can be quite expensive) to save some money. I dropped off my car with the new compressor and all the parts that should be changed with it (filter/condenser, expansion valve, and belt). His mechanic started giving me grief and a bad vibe that "they" don't like dealing with non OEM parts and that they've always had issues. I had some concerns but still left the car. Later in the day I was told that they installed the compressor and it failed within three turns. After discussions with Roger wen picking up the car (with the old compressor still in it) I was told that they flushed the system, filled the compressor with oil, and followed all the typical compressor replacement procedures. And that's where it starts getting cloudy. After returning the compressor to the manufacturer and then testing it, I was told that the oil in it was pitch black with old and new shavings. Something that leads me to believe that Roger never flushed my system properly and did not follow all the procedures. I will personally never go back. If you do, I'd definitely not recommend anything more than a simple oil change or a tire job if at all!

My car is no longer manufactured by GM, so I was looking for a place to get my car serviced. A friend recommended Mr. Roger. He can do oil changes and offer advice on what else needs to be done. If you give him enough notice, he can service your car according to your schedule.
