This store is adjacent to the still working Konriko Rice Mill, which, they tell us, is the oldest active rice mill in the US. They offer a short, quirky tour for a small fee and it was very interesting. Tours are handled by employees who work at the mill so they know the process up close and personal. The company store offers some tourist items as well as several types of rice. We bought several small bags to take home and the rice was delicious. At the time we went, the store also offered huge, delicious Cuban sandwiches, chips, soft drinks. We sat at an indoor table and enjoyed lunch. Our GPS had a challenge finding the mill, and not all streets have street signs, so be aware when visiting.

This was our second visit to the rice mill, it’s definitely worth seeing. We picked up a bag of the wild pecan rice while we were there and unfortunately when we went to cook it just two weeks later we found that it contained weevils. This was certainly disappointing. What was even more disappointing was that in spite of reaching out to the store once via email and twice via telephone to express our concerns, we never heard back from them. Still waiting.

My friend and I visited the store and took a tour of the factory with Cherie who was fantastic. She was fun, engaging, and enthusiastic, and you could tell just how much she enjoyed showing people around and explaining how the rice is processed. After the tour, we went back to the store to sample the rice and spices. There was a short film that added additional background. The store had a wide variety of Cajun food items, including the items manufactured by Konriko, as well as local crafts. What really made the experience memorable was talking to the wonderful owner and store staff. These are some of the most welcoming people you’d ever want to meet, and it was a treat to converse with them and learn about their products. Looking forward to stopping by the next time I visit the area.

The video in the beginning was old but had the most information of any of our tours in the area. The lady doing the tour was super nice and informative. The store had a great selection and it is nice to see a long time business. Now to the one thing I hate to say, the actual mill was filthy. I honestly thought we were being pranked at first. I am not going to eat rice any time soon. If a facility in America can be this filthy I would hate to see what one in China looks like. Please clean before doing any more tours. We want to see you in business for decades to come.

Tasty samples of the products for sale and excellent customer service! Store was neat and items well displayed.
This all-American store still accepts CASH - unlike the Tabasco facilities (won’t go back there). I appreciate that they remain true to American values.
Will return soon to enjoy the tour!

Super great preserved history that still runs today! Great information and history of the area and how rice became so important to Acadia. Great little gift shop and delicious rice! Still use the original machinery in the mill which you can tour.

Loved this store. They had everything we could want that relates to rice, Cajun spices and even art created from wood. The owner and her assistant were both very excited to help and we enjoyed our conversations.

A nice little history stop. I’m from Louisiana and in my 50 plus years on this planet never knew how rice was processed. There was a 20 min film that talked about the area that I found very interesting. It was a short but informative little tour.

We were shown a film about the history of Rice in the area, and specifically the Konriko Rice Co. Then we were given a very informative tour .
