This place is meh. Made an appointment for my two cats and when we went in the vet wasn’t even sure what we were there for. Also, I didn’t see them give my two cats and oral or physical examination, only their regular shots, and when I asked them about the physical, they said yes everything looked fine even though I didn’t see them do it at all.
Pros: prices are decent.
Professional? Questionable.

We've been going to Southshore animal Hospital since Dr. Grisoli was there. So we just continued to go after he retired..Fast forward...I brought our cat in because I noticed that he had labored breathing. Not many other symptoms besides having a little less of an appetite and being a little less active. The whole family could barely tell anything was off. Not sure who the vet was but he ran bloodwork and did X-rays. He came back into the room and the first thing he said was CANCER...there was a lot of fluid in the X-rays which made breathing difficult. I asked him how much time we had and he said that he recommended that he be euthanized right away. I told him that I couldn't do that without at least telling the family. He said he wouldn't recommend waiting. I asked him if I could wait until Monday (this was on a Friday) and he said that it wasn't a good idea. He said that they were open on Saturday from 8-12 and he would put me on the books for 8am. He said he would give him an injection of a medication to get him through the night. I should be thankful that he was so adamant on euthanizing him, otherwise I may not have questioned his diagnosis. I knew that he had a very good quality of life still...
The next morning he actually improved after being given what was a diuretic. I took him to MSAH Main. He is in congestive heart failure (he does not have cancer) but it can be maintained with medication. MSAH had a radiologist look at the new X-rays. Southshore Animal hospital charged me $300 to tell me that our cat had CANCER (wrong!) and to euthanize him IMMEDIATELY. THANK GOD I had the wherewithal to get a second opinion! He is happy, purrs constantly with all of the love and attention, but most of all he is alive, NO THANKS to Southshore Animal Hospital!!
I am posting this a week after Southshore Animal Hospital insisted on euthanasia… you cannot tell that anything is even wrong with our cat ??♀️. The vet at MSAH has even called to check up on him and we have an appointment scheduled with a cardiologist to further investigate which meds he should be on.

This will be long....this will be public...and the business will be tagged at end..and there are a few potty words .. I have used Frenchmen Creek vetinary since the early 90s...for all my cats...dogs...etc...I had Dr Johnson 1st...then he sold to SouthShore Animal Hospital...he left...his associate stayed, so then Dr Grisole was our Dr until he retired...then there were the "Doogie Housers" ya know...Drs that don't even look old enough to buy alcohol...I stayed...I got my precious lil twins and all my friends and family know how I care for them...They are on one of the most expensive maintenance meds...I get filled at Sams, bc its cheaper than chewy...so I get a 6mon supply that last 3 months bc I split it with both dogs....I call sams...they fax dr...Dr approves...I get meds...now, and this is important, I take Mikey there when he is sick...I take the twins every 2-3 months to get their black nails trimmed...Im established there...anyway I was there yesterday to get nails done ..as my thing from Sam's was faxed over...so Sam's calls today...they won't fill the HW meds bc they haven't been in for heartworm test or annual shots...I have 2 dogs...it runs 150 or higher for the yearly visit, test, shots...PER DOG. .I have not had an extra 300 laying around...but I have kept them on monthly meds...with no lapses...EVER...and I have the receipts to back it up...so I call..Im upset...they refuse to do me this favor...never mind how long I've been going...I SAID :"So my dogs are being penalized for me not having money for their yearly annual...my dogs...of which yall are all suppose to be about the animals...we love animals...we care ...bullshit...(they about money now)... are going to have a lapse in meds bc you want me to come in and pay for visit and HW test..." ..this makes no sense...then this woman has the NERVE to tell me...technically when they miss their yearly ...they are not considered "active patients" they clipped their nails yesterday and I guara- fckn- tee if I asked to purchase 2 single doses at almost 50 a piece. THEY WLD HAVE!! I think they are hurting financially...ppl are not spending the money...and they resent you getting meds from a much cheaper place. And...let's talk about that for a minute...do you know the prices for meds are ridiculous there..but this was whispered to me a while back when I said how much cheaper chewy is...they said...if you can pull it up on your phone and show us...we will match it...lol what about their clients that are not privy to that inside info ...they just getting raped....I went off...you are punishing the very animals you are suppose to love soooo much that you just had to be a fckn vet...these vets today are all about the money...its not about the animals...or making it affordable or easy for their clients during this very hard time economically...DR JOHNSON AND DR GRISOLI WLD DIE IF THEY KNEW THIS IS WHAT THEIR PRACTICE HAS BECOME ITS NOT ABOUT HELPING...ITS ABOUT MONEY...and while I understand if there is a lapse in HW meds, they must be checked...MY DOGS HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A LAPSE.. So instead of saying...ok..look...we don't want the dogs to be unprotected, we will sign off for this month but these test need to be done for a new script...we want to help IN YOUR FINACIAL HARDSHIP. INSTEAD THEY TELL ME IM NOT AN ACTIVE PATIENT BC THEY DIDN'T DO A YEARLY...NEVER MIND WE WERE FCKN THERE YESTERDAY .. I told them...I will be putting them on blast and I will put new visits at a new vet on my care credit b4 ever giving them another cent...EXPRESSWAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL IF ANYONE IS LOOKING FOR A GOOD LO COST VET...THEY TREAT 2 DOGS AS ONE VISIT INSTEAD OF 50/ PER PET AT SAME TIME.. I AM SO SICK OF THESE NEW VETS BEING SO MONEY HUNGRY...MUCH LIKE HUMAN DRS...don't try to engage about home-cooked food...or holistic meds...oh no...don't dare say something like that...I made the mistake of saying I cook for mine ONCE.. I am so disappointed in #southshoreanimalhospital #SSAH #Frenchmencreeksouthshoreani

Southshore used to be a good affordable vet. Not anymore. Prices went up and service went down.

The Vet was very kind in answering all questions concerning my senior wire haired terrier, my companion for about 14 of her 15 years of life. Sweet P was given an injection for pain & is currently showing less signs of discomfort. We continue our daily walks. It's these journeys together that become memories I'll hold dearly in my heart when she's gone. Thank you SAH for giving me more time with a loving 4 legged pal, my pup Sweet P.

Very attentive, excellent care and available in an appropriate amount of time. I love that it's calm and peaceful when you arrive. Having a quaint practice gives your animals less stress when waiting.
