This vet clinic is excellent. The vet techs and staff are passionate, professional, and highly competent. Under Dr. McSweeney's care, my Great Dane, Max, lived to be more than 13 years old (which is remarkable for that breed). When Max was 12, he had a tumor so big he could hardly walk. We were preparing for the end as we didn't expect many options for a dog that age. But Dr. McSweeney surgically removed the whole tumor, and Max lived another year, happy and healthy like a much younger dog. We're extremely grateful to Dr. McSweeney and his team for that.

Dr. McSweeney and his staff are always great. We've taken all of our pets there for years. We have a "spirited" redbone coonhound who isn't very fond of his vet visits, but Dr. McSweeney and his folks make things much easier.

I have recently moved to Metairie and chose this clinic for my chihuahua's needs. He has been for an initial exam, nail care and gland expression. This appointment went wonderfully. I was confident in and comfortable with the veterinarian and with all staff I interacted with that day.
At the vet's recommendation, I scheduled a dental cleaning. When we checked in for the dental, I was asked by intake staff if I preferred to be called before any extractions should they become necessary. I said yes, was shown where to indicate such on paperwork, and did so. When staff called me to let me know the cleaning had been successful, they informed me two teeth had needed to be extracted. I was not called prior to this measure being taken, despite explicitly indicating to do so. This upset me greatly. I then spoke to the dental technician (not someone I'd interacted with until now) and asked why I was not called before that measure was taken. She replied that the teeth were causing harm and had to be pulled. I understood that, however I asked to be notified so I would know if I needed to make further financial preparations. She did not seem to understand that failing to notify me as requested was not okay. I picked my dog up early out of concern I would not be notified of any other costs, as ANY cost is a significant cost for me. The other staff were very apologetic and understanding, but the dental technician has left me skittish of coming back here again.
I want to rate five stars, but I can't do that in good faith after my experience with the dental technician.

The doctors and staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and go above and beyond anytime my cats need them. I won't go anywhere else!

These people have pets of their ownand love animals. I have personallydealt with them before 1989 andnever had a bump with the professional service. The best of the best. Very honest and have empathy at all levels. We bring our cats there now.Richard C. Schmidt, Jr.
