Overrated. The beignets taste just like funnel cake and was expecting them to be light and fluffy. It's not worth the long wait. You have to get there early or else you'll have to wait long lines for both the seated area and take out. The hot chocolate is nothing special. It's extremely sweet.

Of course you have to go. Coffee has chicory and beignets are covered in white sugar. They are good and make mess. I did not think they were incredible since they were a bit doughy. However great place to relax and have a cup of coffee.

What a disappointment. I will start with the good. Beignets on point muy excelente and my server was Fantastic! He also told me he will check back with me how I am doing and did. Everything was on point. Now for the VERY bad. As I was enjoying my lovely and perfectly cooked beignets a nice large family sat down. Then another. All was well as kids were happy and for me was still eating my beignets and enjoying my cafe au lait and contemplating my next move Suddenly I see this angry older Cafe du Monde worker YELLING at 3 kids under 10 at one of the tables demanding money. He got so worked up and angry. Who yells at kids. Poor kids looked shocked and confused. Then one girl looked very upset. The Cafe du Monde worker was going off with a very loud voice about paying or not paying to these little kids. I yelled at him to stop yelling at the kids. Then he started yelling at various adults. Not even the kids parents. The entire irrational event was 100% A HUGE CLUSTER. The worker upset the entire room. Then I started feeling sick to my stomach. And the Cafe du Monde worker was yelling nonsensical. He was highly irrational and could NOT umderstand. He was worked up to a frenzy and could not calm down. Apparently the server thinks they ordered 3x the order and they said they did not. He was also yelling at various adults. I may add the amount of beignets they had were excessive. Obviously there was some misunderstanding. One of the adults gave money to the server just to shut server up because kids were scared. Still server was yelling. It was VERY BAD so another worker attempted to calm him down and it only got worse. Both were yelling at each other One of family had walked down the street from the Ritz Carlton as they were getting married on Sunday and decided to take the kids out. They seemed very nice considering they gave the guy more money just to shut him up and to stop yelling at their kids. My waiter nice guy asked me if I wanted to file a complaint and I said yes. He went to get someone to help. I never talked to the boss person because he was trying to calm down the worker The entire event was really sad. I wanted to leave. The other adult parties wanted to leave. The kids wanted to leave. Then when I was complaining at order window the guy basically told me to shut up. It was at that point I walked out disgusted with an absolute HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE Initially I wanted to leave a tip for my nice worker because he was the one who got someone to calm the erratic worker and is a attentive server Sorry dude you are a conscientious worker. Also sorry you have a lousy co-worker. Keep studying so you don't have to work with nutty highly irrational people who drive customers away. What a CLUSTER. I can't imagine what those kids went through. Hopefully they forget what happened but I doubt it. I am sure they will forever remember Cafe du Monde as the place with the crazy man working there.

A must visit while in the French Quarter. Lines can be pretty long, but the views around the shop are beautiful and exciting. There are water views, as well as a beautiful church near by. There were street performers near by too, so the long wait in line was just part of the New Orleans experience. The beneigts were a nice sweet treat to enjoy with a coffee by the water. There are benches near by if you aren't able to find seating. While the food isn't to die for, the overall experience really isn't something to miss.

Of course we had to go to Cafe Du Monde on our trip to New Orleans! The line was super long when we arrived but the wait to be seated wasn't as bad as we expected. However, we did have to wait a really long time to get our table cleaned from the previous customers. We even asked someone for help but he only said, "Oh she's going to come soon." We waited at least another 5 minutes before we flagged down another worker, and I guess there was a mix up between who was supposed to be taking care of our section. However, once we were able to get the tables cleaned and put in our orders, the wait was not too long afterwards. We ordered 5 orders of the beignets between 7 of us and then we also go the cafe au lait and hot chocolate. The beignets were amazing and definitely messy lol the cafe and hot chocolate were alright, they tasted watered down, especially the hot chocolate. I'd recommend just coming for the beignets and the drinks if you're really thirsty but those aren't anything to write home about. CASH ONLY! Good thing I had some on me or else we'd have to search for an ATM. The waiters are the ones you pay and they carry change on them so they're also a walking cash register lol

Whether you're a Louisiana native or just passing through New Orleans, Café Du Monde is the place to geaux (go)! Beignets are great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack or dessert! Top it off with some hot chocolate or cafe au lait and you can't go wrong. Prices are fair. My group of 5 ate for about $30 which included an order of beignets and drinks for each person. (Be sure to have cash!) Depending on what time of day or season (Christmas, Mardi Gras is Spring Break), lines will be long, but it is worth the wait! Located on Decatur St. next to the River, Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral, Café Du Monde is next to some quintessential New Orleans spots/photo ops. Additionally, you can walk right down to the French Quarter Market to do some shopping, or walk a few minutes to get to Bourbon Street. Be sure to add Café Du Monde to your list next time your out or in New Orleans, you won't be disappointed!

MUST VISIT while in New Orleans, at least for your first visit. Best way to start the day, take a break, or grab an evening sweet treat. YES! There is a long line, there's a reason for it.... the benign are delicious!!! The powdered sugared beignets are AMAZING! Be sure to pick up some "take home treats" too, like their K-Cups Coffee and bring CASH! This place is always busy, so bring your patience, and take some photos while you are in line!
