“We had a good experience. They helped our daughter get fitted for Pointe shoes without having to make an appointment. They helped her get everything she need for her first pair!”

“Went looking for a comfortable pair of work shoes. Mr Jerome knew exactly the type of shoe I needed by looking at my feet. After purchasing two pair of Hoka’s and wearing them for the past two weeks, I should have been wearing them all along. Great shoe selection and knowledgeable people. I will definitely return in the future.”
“I really had a fantastic experience. A really nice young man went over and beyond to help me find a pair of jeans for my incredibly particular teenager. Just really great customer service!”
“Lynn and Cat greeted me and helped me find jeans that fit me. These are nice heavy weight 100% cotton jeans.
Anyway, I usually do not enjoy shopping. Lynn and Cat made it easy for me. It's nice that Gap is convenient.”
“Sally is the sweetest lady ever and this store is precious! Can’t recommend it enough. She went above and beyond during this tough time of covid 19, helping me shop over the phone to make kids Easter perfect!”
“Once Upon a Child in downtown Mandeville (off Hwy 22 in the Azalea Shopping Center) is a hidden gem for parents. It’s a quaint, moderately sized store packed with all kinds of options for kids—clothing, shoes, toys, books, swimwear, and even a few video selections. They mainly carry sizes for infants through age 12, with the occasional piece in the 14–16 range, though those go fast!
What really makes this location stand out is the quality. It’s in one of the more upscale areas of Mandeville, so you’ll often find lots of name-brand items and very few off-brand pieces. Everything tends to be in great condition, and the store keeps up with the seasons and current styles.
One of the best parts? You can bring in your gently used, clean children’s items and sell them. They’ll offer you a garage-sale-style price, and you can choose to get cash or store credit to shop in return. Just a heads-up: if you go over a certain cash payout amount, you will get a tax form, therefore if selling, come prepared with your drivers licensure when you check your items in at the buy counter.
The buyback process is easy, but not super fast. If you drop your items off by 10 AM, you’ll usually hear back by around 3:30 PM. You can stay and wait in the store, but it’s more practical to explore the area and come back later—maybe grab lunch or shop around Mandeville for the afternoon.
Parking depends on the time of day. Weekdays are smooth, but weekends or school holidays can make it trickier to find a spot, especially if you’re hauling in items to sell. There’s parking available—it just might not be right up front.
Staff are always friendly and helpful, and the store is well-organized and clean. Getting in and out of the shopping center from Highway 22 can be a bit of a challenge depending on traffic, which is almost always a factor in that area.
Overall, it’s a great place to save on kids’ essentials while also recycling your own. Worth the visit if you’re in the area—and worth the drive if you’re not!”
“I have four daughters and we LOVE blossom girl! We live out of town but they beg to go there every time we visit. Blossom girl has every girl gadget, accessory, and cute clothing item you can imagine. Kerry is super friendly and her staff is very helpful. They make the most ornate and beautiful balloon designs for parties, baby showers, etc. This really is a one of a kind girl store!”
