I live in LaPlace and wanted to support a local business, so I chose Oscarvel Automotive for my Kia Sorento’s transmission issue. I called on May 1st, and the owner, Oscar, asked me to drop it off the next day, May 2nd. I took the morning off, rented a car, and dropped off my Kia. Oscar promised to call that afternoon but never did. I called on May 3rd and was told he’d look at it that day, but he never called back.
On May 7th, Oscar informed me he lost my only key and remote and asked if I had a spare, which I did not. I called again on May 9th for an update and was told he had to take my car to another mechanic for a transmission diagnosis, something I could have done myself.
By May 15th, I still had no updates. When I called, Oscar rudely said, “You keep calling for an update, I’ll get to it when I get to it.” Shocked by his response, I visited the shop on May 16th to get a solid update or a fixed car by May 17th. Oscar responded aggressively, saying, “You don’t tell me what to do! Take the car now!” The car was returned with a flat tire, an incomplete dashboard, and a generic remote instead of my key.
On May 17th, I took my car to a transmission repair shop in New Orleans. They found it only needed an oil flush, and it was fixed the same day.
I’m deeply disappointed with Oscarvel Automotive. I wanted to support a local business and build a relationship with a trustworthy mechanic. Instead, I faced disrespect, poor communication, and negligence. Oscar’s behavior as a business owner is unacceptable. He never provided a proper diagnosis, timely updates, or respectful customer service. Its going to cost me a few hundred to get another key made for my car.

Oscar is a person who has zero% customer service. I went a few days ago to ask him the price of installing 2 tires and he told me, give me a moment, I'm busy, okay, I understood because he was working on a car. I waited more than 15 minutes, I was with 3 children and I understood that it was a fairly basic question since he would not spend time checking for any mechanical problem. The thing was that since the children were calling me I said could you tell me how much it is? Ohhhh God that man ate me with his mouth!!!! He yelled at me wildly and said ma'am, I told him I was busy!!!!! But not even my father has spoken to me so ugly like that. Thank God I only told him but what bad customer service! And I left. I plan to return to this place. At no time did I disrespect you enough for you to disrespect me and I was also with 3 children and I think that as an experienced owner you must imagine that children are very impatient and it was just a question. ?♀️

Very rude. Charged over 300 plus tax for something someone else charged 100 for. Not knowing I grew up working on cars and I know no labor is that high, too bad I couldn’t do it myself since I got in a wreck. They charge DRAMATICALLY.

I have had two of my vehicles serviced at Oscarvel and I was happy with both the service and the price. Repairs were completed timely and I haven't had any problems with the work that was completed. They allow you to provide your own parts but will not warrant anything if your use your own parts which is understandable.Services: Steering & suspension repair

These folks are crooks they will act as if they fixed your vehicle just to mess up something else to spend more money!! I hate it that this place is still operating. I will see they will be inspected for the mo ey they stold from me and everyone else.

If could i would give him a 0 star took my car in for motor oil cooler gaskets he replaced them and when i pick up my car it didnt want to turn on so they jumped started it and it turn on and left the place down the street the car turn off so looked under my hood the battery terminals (wire)were cut i got a new battery and (wire) fix it myself and something was telling me to check the oil and antifreeze so i did the oil was empty and there was no antifreeze dont recommended this place its trash the owner hardly talks to you.

Oscarvel is definitely one of the best, least expensive, and quick automobile service centers in Laplace. Always got the job done and was an honest establishment doing their job. I would recommend them. Good work, good attitudes, and good service. Hit the LIKE BUTTON for me!!!
