Don’t let the size of this little neighborhood grocery store for you… They have everything you need, and more! Gluten free… No problem, they have surprise me with a fair amount of options here. The premade chicken salad is my absolute favorite!… And the jalapeño chicken burgers in the deli section are amazing! They have wonderful meat specials every day. The chicken and steak kebabs, and the stuffed pork chops are my favorite.

We spent this weekend in LFT celebrating a beautiful couple exchange their "I do's" and we had such an amazing time. It was my husband's first "Cajun" wedding and I fully expected he would want to leave early. But we stayed until the very end and he now wants to learn to jitterbug and perhaps line dance! Of course we took advantage of the opportunity to indulge in some great food that we just can't get in Dallas. I grew up in LFT, but I've lived in Big D for 20 years now and you would be shocked to know that I have not been able to find "Seven Steak" anywhere in Dallas. They just don't sell it here. So, I was on a mission to find some on this trip and bring it back to Dallas. I grew up eating Seven Steak and also going to the original Veron's and having the butcher's give me a Lil' Smokie while my mom bought our meat. I found beautiful pieces of Seven Steak here at 8AM on a Sat morning before leaving town and I was so excited. I told the butcher that I could not find this cut of meat anywhere in Dallas, and he chuckled and said, "Mais, that's because they don't know what a good gravy tastes like." haha!! So, we made a "good gravy" tonight and all is well in the world! I almost asked him for a Lil' Smokie for old times sake, but refrained! ha!

I have childhood memories of my parents purchasing hindquarters of beef from Veron's on Johnson St. The stuffed pork chops from there were a delicious special treat. Little Veron's moved into my parent's neighborhood after l moved away and it carries on the traditions I knew as a youth. Every neighborhood should have a little grocery like Little Veron's!

I am so happy that I can get Little Veron's incredible meat and seafood department because believe me...Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas just think think they know meat! They don't know what a 7 steak is. I had to bring one for them to see. They are now selling them & over 50K people who buy food have to UPS our clothes so we can each bring home 70lbs. of seafood, boudin, venison and thanks to Amazon I have My Jack Miller BBQ sauce & seasonings. By the way on a funny note, my mother Lillie Dronet hit her gas pedal instead of her brakes & now they have a new window in the front. She told the original owner, PaPa Veron she was making him a drive thru email address is:
[email protected] & address for special flyers. Home sick & gone for 30 years & it feels like 60. GEAUX LA teams! My love to all. I hope some of the people in the meat department are still there when I am in Lafayette this holiday season depending on the weather. We are supposed to have a a pretty big sneaux (snow) this winter! I'll be calling you to overnight my turduckin for Thanksgiving. I have my own UPS or FedEx#. Sorry it's so long. It'ts like finding out that there is a real Easter Bunny! LOL. Thank you, Donna Dronet-Radkin My father was Don Dronet. He & my mother have both passed away, but there was always Veron's for Donna. Do not touch! They lived off of Camellia Blvd in a beautiful neighborhood.
