Hard to believe that budget encouraged me to leave this review, but here we are. Every step in this rental process was chaotic, and unprofessional. The car we were given smelled of cigarette smoke, had mechanical issues, and just to make things even more bizarre, someone had written on the window in white wax pencil. Picking up the car, we had to wait close to an hour, as did 20 other people standing in the middle of an empty garage. The very nice man who worked for the budget explained to us that they’re just simply weren’t enough people to keep Stocked. Upon return, we had to park in the middle of a driveway, and walk with my 93-year-old mother-in-law across several barriers, dragging our luggage, in winter weather, to get to the shuttle.Everything about this process was maddening and disappointing.

Budgets Performance at the New Orleans Airport Car Rental Centre was the worst. Both cars they showed us have been super dirty from the inside and disgusting. They told us/ yelled at us that their vacuum system is down but the cars just would’ve needed a good wipe. On our complains they reacted with yelling at us that it is not their problem that the vacuum system is done which is just not true. All three service employees have been unfriendly and didn’t help us too well. We have a dirty car now and are super unhappy. Thanks budget.

Where do I start. First of all I picked up Hyundai sonata , thought I was getting a brand new Rav 4, 2023. Picked up vehicle and as soon as I got to free and actually had to stop brakes were grinding. As someone who is in customer service industry that’s just lack of attention to detail and negligence. Maintenance should be done daily, weekly and monthly on this vehicles especially when you are renting them to the public. Horrible experience. What a waste of $734.00….. the blessings is my family and I made I back home safely, but the next family may not be as lucky. Please do better.

Horrible attitudes. I've never been here and not had a problem. From no cars ready, to never being able to use the fastbreak because they refuse to do there job by preparing cars ahead of time. Never prepay at this location because if they refuse to give you what you pay for you want get your money back. I know people who had proof of no damage to cars but once you leave the employees hit things and blame it on the customer. Dirty cars, gas never full but your paperwork says it is. This is just one of the worst location. It may be the worst location of your corporate store location. Start at the top and work your way down. Employees only do what management allows them to do.

One of the worst rental cars I’ve ever had. The van was disgusting to start, had 80K miles, and had minor damage all over. Years of build up in every crevasse due to poor cleaning, trash under the seats, and glass so dirty I couldn’t see at night. Then I discover none of the console usb charging ports work, the windshield washers didn’t work despite being full, and the front end rattled like crazy on bumps. I’m leaving an extra star just bc this piece of junk at least didn’t break down.

We reserved a car through Costco travel at MSY New Orleans Airport only to be told they didn’t have anything that was even close to what we asked for. I felt bad for the person at the counter who had zero control over inventory. She was apologetic and told us we could check back in a couple hours to see if any cars would be available. She also mentioned that if a reservation is made via 3rd party (Costco) that other reservations take priority.We reserved a Chevy traverse and then offered a truck, electric vehicle or sports car. We chose the SUV for many reasons and none of these would have worked for our group. Once we were in the garage area after reluctantly accepting a truck, I was able to get an employee to hear me out. I found a vehicle that was dirty and in need of service, but it was better than what was offered. She was able to issue that vehicle to us.When we returned the car there was at least 3 very long lines of cars that had been returned waiting to be processed. We only saw one person who was not in any hurry to get our car checked in. So frustrating when arriving to a new city for vacation. It was a stressful and disappointing start to our trip and we quickly found that having a reservation didn't mean much.

Pick up was simple and the car was nice and clean. They gave me a free upgrade without me having to ask- maybe they were out of smaller cars, but we needed the extra space so we were very happy.The drop off was very simple. I was expecting to see a person and hand over the keys, but there was no one in sight. After reading the signs, I realized I was supposed to note the mileage and drop my paperwork into the drop box.It was easy, but also a little sad that this is their new staffing model.

Fast break is a game changer! Walked to the lot, went to my designated location to find my vehicle. Vehicle is clean and ready to go. Quick scan with the app to leave the lot. Fast forward to drop off. Drive up, grab your stuff, and leave keys. Can’t ask for a more quick and convenient service. Thank you Budget!

Everything went smoothly on pickup and drop off. Staff were pleasant. Only concern was I had rented a "surprise" vehicle and it was an EV. Most people including myself are unfamiliar with them. And there was no printout of some basics. This would have been very helpful, especially noting charging stations and how to charge the vehicle. I found one working outlet in the parish I visited and it would take 8 hours to fully charge! I didn't bring it back fully charged and since I wasn't given another bill for that I give them 4 stars. The car was a Hyundai Kona and once I drove it a bit, I liked it. Very smooth ride with plenty of power.

The MSY airport staff were great, they made the whole rental experience smooth and they were not lazy. (most rental car company employees are just there for the paycheck, not these ladies) They took the time to assist me with figuring out how to make my rental reservation approved when it was denied at pickup due to my credit card maximum amount. I wish I could remember the names of the ladies who assisted myself and my husband to keep from making our trip a horror story. Thank you so much and we will continue booking with budget from here on.

Two part complaint. At the time of online reservation I also reserved a booster seat for my child. Once I arrived to the location the receptionist even called on the walkie talkie for a booster seat. I thought it would be in the car. Approx 10 min later I arrive to the vehicle but no booster seat. I wait 10 more min thinking its surely on its way she spoke to someone about it. But it never showed up. I thought no worries I will just buy one at the nearest store which you can get cheaper actually. The booster rental is $59 which is super surprising seeing that you can get a brand new one for 20-60 bucks. Anyway as I was pulling out of the garage I asked the lady who checks your ID and scans the car one last time, how does it work when getting a booster seat for future reference. She said they leave it on the sidewalk just outside building door and you are suppose to pick it on your way out and take it to the car. Ok I didn't get that info but mental note made for future rentals. The second issue I had is the car reeked of marijuan. Im left wondering who does the QC on cars to be deemed "clean and ready" for redistribution to new customers and are their standards that low or are they such a habitual marijuana user that they themselves aren't able to smell the reek that only a user would enjoy? Staff was friendly and car was excellent mechanically speaking.

I had a flat on my rental Nissan Frontier and AAA fixed it. It was a one-way rental to Nashville. I called Budget 3 times about swapping the truck out because I didn’t want to drive hundreds of miles on the interstate without a spare tire. I got the runaround. Twice I was told to drop the truck off at any Budget and twice I was told (two different locations in Birmingham) that they didn’t have a one-way vehicle to give me. I told them it didn’t have to be a truck. The customer service 800 rep told me twice to go to locations and I was rejected. I added that the AAA person didnt put the flat tire under the truck where the spare was. So I had to put it inside the cab of the truck to avoid theft. This made it inconvenient and uncomfortable for my passengers. I inconvenienced my passengers to protect Budget’s property. I never once got an “I’m sorry”. On top of that, the truck was not thoroughly cleaned inside when I picked it up. Had it been they would have discovered the loaded handgun magazine under the seat I discovered when I was in Birmingham. I took it to the office in Nashville airport and again, it was apparently no big deal. But it was to me and my 11 year old nephew and another customer who was in line at the airport outside station. I took photos that I’m considering posting on social media. I’ve been a loyal Fastbreak customer for many years. And as you can see rent from Budget and Avis frequently. To me, requiring a customer to drive 100s of miles without a spare is a mechanical or safety issue. Very disappointing. Carlton

The agent at the desk was very nice. The agent giving us the car over to us was NOT helpful, he didn't speak a single word to us. The vehicle was given to us with no washer fluid. The driver rear tire had to be aired up three times during the rental because of a leak. When I called budget regarding my flat tire I was transferred three times and told that any repair would be my financial responsibility. The agent with whom we returned the vehicle, was nice and pleasant.Caveat Emptor !

Budget maintains an excellent fleet of vehicles. They are always spotless and reliable. Budget service reps are top notch and very responsive. I use Budget whenever I need to rent a car. They are an excellent value.

Book a car at New Orleans airport. Our pick up was quick and easy. Our car was in great condition and they had a lot of available cars. We even got upgraded to a higher end car! Drop off was very easy and smooth. Highly recommend booking with Budget.
