I paid for the vehicle weeks in advance only to get to the airport and have to wait 35 to 45 minutes. We were told that the vehicle was being cleaned only to find out that the dirty vehicle that we sat and watched over 30mins was the vehicle that they were going to give us. We requested to speak with a manager and was told that we would have to wait on her but wasn't sure of how long it would take. We had other family members waiting for us to pick them up at the Amtrak not knowing that they would have to wait over an hour due to Avis not having our vehicle reserved. We were told the take the dirty vehicle and that we did not have to fill it back up with gas. Poor excuse for lack of service that was paid for in advance. It was embarrassing and frustrating for us to have other members in our party to have to wait at the Amtrak for over an hour not to mentioned the 6+ hours ride to NOLA. Very disappointed and unsatisfied.

The vehicle I rented was not from MSY but had a loose driver side door and smelled like marijuana..When I returned the vehicle to MSY, the Avis woman guiding the cars in was giving extremely unclear directions and was very rude. She has no business working in a customer service industry.. I've rented tons of cars over my career from various agencies and airports and this was my worst experience yet..

Rented vehicle and although the vehicle worked appropriately, upon return they tried to charge us over $50 for fuel even though we filled the gas tank above F and took a photo in the return lot once parked notating this. They wouldn't take back the completed pamphlet marking our fuel and mileage upon return (even though it says this needs to be returned) and said we could throw it away. I kept it just in case. Due to other reviews, I took photos of everything before and after and took a photo at return of the gas guage as well. I have worked with Avis before and didn't have this issue, but I should have trusted the reviews for this location.

Very easy pickup since we have preferred only complaint is that there was somehow dirt and smears of some kind on the sunroof shade

Waited at service desk for 20 minutes after returning my car, then when someone finally came to the service desk they said they would not help me until I got checked in….however I already turned in my car and checked it in. Line was long and no one would help, in addition they were very rude and not helpful at all to get my billing issues fixed. Very frustrating.

If this rating was just only based on my experience with NOLA, I'd give it a zero, but my experience dropping off in Nashville was so much better. And I have pictures to show rather than tell what happened in New Orleans. In short, I pre-booked a standard SUV with Avis via Costco with unlimited mileage and a drop-off in Nashville. At the counter a lady was going to issue me a car when another lady/manager with more authority said to give me another car ("You want to upgrade him from W to S?" or something to that effect. I have no idea about rental class schema.)When we got to the space, we were issued an absolutely banged up Subaru Ascent that had significant damage on the driver's side (so much so that they were marked with "X". On the inside, the front passenger side had interior molding that was pulled out and hanging down from the frame between the windshield and the door. And, the tires were nearly bald; I'd estimate 2/32" - 3/32" depth. There's no way that this car should've been rented. And, in addition, there was an employee parking badge hanging from the rear-view mirror, which had us question whether this was part of the rental fleet. In the ramp, I found the customer service agent/manager who advised the upgrade and asked her if we could get a different vehicle because this one was severely damaged. She surveyed it and paused. I said I'd prefer to drive a vehicle that was undamaged and safe for the highway with my family. She then had us stand in the parking garage for 10-20 minutes and finally came out and told us to take a Dodge Durango (I believe). This vehicle was damaged too, with a dented front right bumper from some sort of minor collision, myriad scratches, and the interior carpet ripped up in the back seat. She said this was all she had. *shrug*I had a meeting so we took it after an extended delay, asked the girl checking us out at the gate to log all the damage for when we turned it in, and got out of there. The complete experience felt very suspect.

Once again Avis Preferred gets you nothing. No cars assigned or to select. Twenty people waiting in line at midnight

In the USA we always used Alamo for more than 15y. Our last experience in Salt Lake City last September was not so great so we decided to look for another company…our choice was AVIS and we were pleased with everything : the car, the personal both when taking the car and the dropp off were top ! Bravo

My car hadn’t been cleaned at all and the prior renter clearly smoked in it. Ashes in the console and smoke smell in the car.

Horrible experience.Firstly, I am preferred member with Avis from long time .In New Orleans airport, the app didn’t allowed me for checkin and pickup. Then, there was No cars available at airport.we waited for almost 2 hrsThey offered us electric and pickup truck. The staff was very rude.I told them I have family and it’s very late .They said you want vehicle or not.Very rude behaviorI got electric as there was no option, then struggle to charge .So, we decided to swap next day.It basically spoiled 1/2 day of my vacation time as we went through so much hassles. No apologies or considerations from staff.Return, we returned vehicle by 12:30 am and took hotel shuttle for airport in morning to avoid extra day charges. When I got receipt it stating that we returned vehicle 30mins late that original pickup time so charged me 1 hr cost.Seriously, horrible facility with rude staff.ZERO STAR

Avis Preferred doesn't work. After midnight and I had to wait on line for 30 minutes. Given an EV within only 50% charge and told to exchange it the next day is I like. Nice car, but I spent 2 hours trying to find a charging location before giving up and returning it

Myself and over 50 customers waited in line at Dallas-Fort Worth for two hours in line. Reserved vehicles were not ready. By the time we got to the desk no apology was offered. Numerous people were using profanity they were all so upset about this issue.
