For the most part, the facility is nice. They have made some really good improvements over the years. My biggest complaint is the pool is kept too warm for a proper workout. I'm not saying it should be competitive temperature, but the upper 80dgF range is too hot.Otherwise, the only other thing I would be pleased to see would be a bit more detailed cleaning in the men's locker room.

Very Rude and Bias staff,Life guards are bias My child had to use the restroom so he quickly went to the rest room after swimming he gets yelled at for going too fast yet another child at the same time was running and nothing was said to them, Also seems the life guards have a prejudice for asian people I watched more asians were talked rude to than any other.Try to speak with a manager and get the run around very shady and crooked place.will never return or recommend it. Once another gym with a pool opens up The Ymca would lose a lot of members. Friendly Customer service should be first not last.

Hey, we're members here! I wish their pickleball scene would take off. But facilities are great and immaculately kept. Wish they'd get that child care option back where they put the spin room... I don't have enough demons to take a spin class, but I could use some child care while I work out! Also, yoga with Suzanne is my favorite. She's wonderful!

I haven’t been to the Y since hurricane Ida. From my own past experiences I would say I don’t feel comfortable coming here. It’s a judgmental environment, and I don’t get the feeling like they want you to go to their classes or ask them any questions. Any interruption was a hindrance to any of the employees (it seemed like).

So sad….. today the “NONPROFIT” James J. Buquet Bayouland YMCA lost a 32 year faithful member! Despite paying membership dues for over a year and not being able to use the amenities; the front desk clerk forced my 86 year old grandfather to leave. His “crime”….? Bringing his two great grandchildren to enjoy the finally working pool after months and months of waiting. To make matters worse, he was willing to pay for their memberships and this prized Olympic size pool only had 3 people in it at the time.

After hurricane ida I was told I need to reapply for membership. Which I been a member since 1986. I want to know does every member have to reapply or just me or other like me.

They don't have any information for when they will be opening back up. I paid for a membership and now I can't use it and don't know when I will be able to again.

Everything is broken and the financial assistance is a joke. They charge who they want and people they should be charging have a list of unpaid debts that can fill Valhi drive. During COVID-19 they charged your account when they were closed. The office staff need to reread their mission statement. They are the worst YMCA facility that I have ever visited. The unprofessional gossiping does it for me.

Most of the staff is excellent but if you’re ever there when one of the bad ones is working it can really ruin your experience. One of the staff members in particular is always on my case, first it’s don’t bring your baby in the locker rooms, then it’s don’t drip all over the workout rooms. If you have to break one of the rules no matter what, why can’t I choose which rule? Care more about her ego than helping people out.(Ruth Branca)Although my wife was upset with this instance, I just wanted to add that I had great experiences at this YMCA and the value is amazing. All of the staff was friendly when I went in. I've updated the review to 5 stars because my wife got over it and I believe we really enjoyed this gem in Houma. We are grateful to have been members here.James
