I've banked here for seven years but since #coronapocalypse, things have gone downhill. I don't think the inside is even open any longer. I've tried calling and get routed to Baton Rouge, usually to someone that doesn't know anything. I've had issues with transferring money to another bank. Now, I'm trying to close this account and having issues doing that also. Not good.

I have an account with Lacap for over 20 years. I never visited the branch much over the years. The branch in Harvey shut down during COVID and never reopened which makes it inconvenient for people in that area. The one time I really need Lacap it is unavailable. I have an online account but can’t self service my need due to e statements being unavailable. Now I am finding out how hard it is to bank with them.

They're good to deal with for co-op loan payments to other credit unions. Very helpful and polite staff, and they were familiar with the co-op program unlike other credit union locations I've been too.

the Worst Credit Union ever, Every month they would allow a company to steel money out of my account and when i go to dispute it they would refuse to dispute and also charge me a 30 nsf fee plus want to charge me 30.00 to stop payment instead of disputing them and ending the charges they rather steel from a disabled man and take his whole check by allowing fraud charges and on top charging me more fees , Then try to deny me my first amendment right when i go sit on the Neutral Ground with my sign saying they stole from a disabled man. The Laugh is on them because its my 1st amendment right to be there and they did me nothing but i will sit out there every single day and hold my sign oh and the best part of the whole situation is when i went to close my account out i had $13.00 in there they stole that also and refused to give it to me.

I opened an account in 1975 at England Federal Credit Union, England Air Force Base, Alexandria, LA. When the air base closed, LACAP acquired the credit union. I have always found the LACAP staff friendly, responsive, and helpful over these 43 years. I have not lived in LA for most of that time, and have lived and worked in many different countries, not to mention different places in the U.S.; but LACAP is still my main "bank" account because they promptly and professionally handle every transaction I need. I wrote "bank" in quotation marks because LACAP is not a for-profit bank; it's a member-owned credit union that does everything a bank can do, but without excessive fees. LACAP has earned my trust and continues to do so with every transaction.

I've had problems with LaCapitol for awhile now. I attempted to email/fax the President/CEO Michael Hooper but they refused to give me that information so I filed a complaint with the BBB and Fox 8 Defenders yesterday. Customers should be able to contact the owner if they are not satisfied with the service of the employees. This credit union does not call the customer when a potential fraudulent item is presented. They pay it even if the customer catches it while it is pending. Then we have to wait until they officially post it to file a dispute. On September 28, 2017 Century 21 in New York debited 149.99 out of my account. I noted next to it Sunday that I do not know what that is and did not make that charge. I went into the bank Monday. I couldn't do anything about it because eventhough they put the money as unavailable in my account, it was still in a pending state. That charge was pending since Sunday, disappeared from my account completely Wednesday so I assumed they didn't pay it, but it posted to my account Thursday. It makes absolutely no sense that whoever is supposed to be ensuring the safety of our accounts would let a transaction in New York go through when the same card is making purchases in Louisiana. Other banks call patrons before they pay. This credit union authorizes the charge even after they are informed that the charge is fraudulent. I am beyond aggravated that I have to go back to the bank today for something I've already informed them of. I'm even more aggravated that they still debited this money out of my account after I told them it was a fraudulent charge. I am most aggravated that their security/fraud department didn't flag this charge and contact me before authorizing the charge. On April 14, 2017 I had two fraudulent charges. One from Radiant Slim for $89.97 and another one from Diet for $89.96. I went into the bank, filled out the dispute form and they NEVER credited the money to my account. It's apparent these were scam charges. Who has two charges a cent apart back to back? I received a letter a month later informing me that someone tried to contact me regarding my dispute but had not heard back from me so my dispute is closed. First of all, what are they calling me for? I went into the bank and explained the situation to the person who helped me fill out the form. Second, who called me? I spoke to no one. So I'm just out $179.93 for a charge that LaCapitol should have detected as fraudulent from the beginning. On November 14, 2016 I went into Elite and ordered a dress. The dress I ordered never came in. They asked if I wanted another dress or a refund. I told them refund. Elite acted as if they refunded the money to my card but the money never came back on my card. When I looked at my receipt it said offline. To sum the events all up I went back to the store, Elite never gave me my money, I went into the bank explained the situation to the customer service rep and showed her the receipt that said offline. She told me to have no further contact with Elite, they would handle it. $238 was credited to my account from LaCapitol on November 29th. On February 16, 2017 without notice $238 was taken out of my account. I called LaCapitol and was informed that they were unable to collect the money from Elite so debited my account for the money and I would be receiving a letter in the next few days informing me of such. How do you just take money out of someone's account and not notify them beforehand? What good is a letter after the fact when I'm standing by a gas pump and the machine tells me declined? The lady who told me I would be receiving a letter also stated that they would credit the $30 NSF fee but they did not. $268 just gone without a warning. I'm also confused why they debited my account 3 months later when they told me to let them handle it. Does my card not have insurance? I'm completely dissatisfied.
