My gelding needed to be seen for an eye ulcer . Of course I’m freaking out and stressed beyond belief but from the first phone call I made , to being greeted at the front desk all the way to check out the staff was friendly, knowledgeable , patient , and caring. They helped calm this nervous mamas mind and helped get my guy on the road to recovery. We go for our check up in a week and shall see what the verdict is. I hope to continue to have the same experience each time, especially since we chose to drive two hours from Texas just to use this vets office. We were taken care of by Dr. Echols and her assistant who didn’t mind my millions of questions. Now I’m not one to usually leave reviews so this says a lot! Thank you red river and Dr. Echols for making my first visit with my emergency case so so wonderful.

This is the best vets office in Louisiana. I took my horse to 2 other vets first who told me my horse's sidebone was making him lame. It took the vet at Red River Equine less than 5 minutes to realize it was the other hoof. He made certain by looking at old video of him limping and by doing a block and confirmed that it was indeed that hoof and had been all along. He checked it and found he had a heel bruise. He has almost no heel on his front hooves. So, the vet recommended shoes and gave us some pain meds. Had I gone to see him first I could have saved myself $1k. I drove 2.5 hrs to see them and it was worth the drive. Don't waste your time and money at other vets. Get the right diagnosis ip front for a reasonable price. LOVE this vet!!!!

If it wasn't for the friendly techs and front desk staff, I would be wanting to give a 0. I don't know if all the vets here are as unprofessional as Nelson or not, but the level of unprofessionalism I encountered from him was uncalled for.I had my mare there for a pre purchase for potential out of state buyers, sad thing is I recommend them to use this clinic since my vet obviously could not do it. Nelson did find a problem which I was not aware of, I was fine with this. This is the fact he should have stuck too. After only looking at my horse for less than 5 minutes, Nelson calls the potential buyer, mind you at this point the horse has only been lunged each direction, with no issues other than being off after flexing her, my mare had done what was asked of her, and tells them he doesn't know what the price tag is on this horse, which is none of his business, BTW, but there is no way he would put a 14 year old girl on this horse, because it is crazy. My handicap grandson rides this horse and he is only 7. Nelson has no way of knowing how this horse acts, why would he say that to them? So after hearing he said this, all of his credibility is gone with me. I talk to the potential buyer, he wants to go ahead with the x-rays, at this point we find the issue of why she was off after flexing her. This part of the exam I was fine with. The issue that was found will be handled with my vet. During all of this, I am being told one thing by the vet and the potential buyers are being told something completely different, I guess he was unaware they were telling me what he said to them. After the exam is over and I am getting ready to leave, Nelson goes on to say another of his clients names and her horse's name and tells me about an issue she was having, I guess he doesn't understand vet/client confidentiality. So just know he may be telling your business and may also state things about your horse that he does not know to be true and has know proof to back it up.

Our incredible horse was acting funny and Red River had us bring him in late on a rainy evening to what we later suspect was a black widow spider bite. He seems to be making a great recovery thanks to the talented team at RREH. Thank you for the expertise and caring for our equine family.

I am a new horse owner and wasn’t sure what my girl needed. From the very first phone call until the end of the visit, this was a positive experience. The staff was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable and at all times I felt like my horse was cared for with compassion and dignity. The doctors answered all my questions and took extra time to help me understand. I really cannot say enough good things about this wonderful equine veterinarian practice. I’m a customer for life.
