Christian helped me at the store in Mandeville on Hwy 22, not in Baton Rouge. I ordered and paid for the canopy during lunch, then went to pick it up. Christian met me at the door, asked how he can help me and just did everything perfectly. Whomever taught him did so very well. Very pleasant staff, helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. A must visit and so much better than trying to figure it out on your own on the internet. Oh, I bought a Helios Royal Box, perfect for the lakefront in Mandeville on Sunday Memorial Day weekend.

I had made a purchase and never got my 15% off. Emailed them, and the next day they had debit the 15% difference. I was blown away by how fast and I didn’t even have to fight them. I’m so use to companies taking for ever and making up excuses to as why you can get your discount.

Always been thankful for some of the staff members being so helpful. They assisted me putting confusing Thule roof racks on my car when I didn’t even buy it from them, so I ended up buying some clothes anyway. They always have a good selection of some of my favorite brands, especially howler brothers and free fly.

BEWARE OF RETURN POLICY. My wife and I have shopped in both the Baton Rouge and Mandeville locations and our experiences have been mostly positive. I recently purchased a raincoat as a Christmas gift. The gift did not work out and I went to return it after Christmas to find out I could only get a store credit. It states this on the receipt and I purchased it around Thanksgiving. I was upset because I discussed that it was a Christmas gift with the person who helped me and they did not say a word. I explained this to Max, who seemed to be in charge, and he had a not so nice attitude. We will use the credit, but that will be it for Backpacker. There are so many local and national competitors that would of treated this differently. The score would of been 4 even with the issue, but Max's lack of any customer service or anti customer service brings the score to 2.

Went to exchange shoes that were a gift. Matt listened to my complaints about fit. He introduced my to my new favorite shoes. It's great when people know about what they sell.

I bought a Spyder jacket on Dec 23rd that was on sale. I asked before I bought it if I could return it since I wasn't sure if it was the right size. The girl told me I definitely could if I took it back the next day which was Christmas Eve. I went around noon or so and some kid at another register said he could help me. I gave him the jacket and told him I wanted to return it and he weirdly walked the jacket to the sale section then came back and said since it smelled like weed I couldn't return it. This was a jacket for a 15 year old boy and it wasn't even taken out of the bag. He said yo just go air it out and come back before 4 :00 and I could return it. I didn't wanna lose my temper and beat up a minor so I agreed but when I got back at 3:25 the store was closed and no matter how hard I banged on the door nobody came to open it plus it said open till 4:00 on the door. So I had to go through all the trouble of disputing it on my credit card and all that. I definitely do not recommend buying anything from here.

I had an excellent experience at the Backpacker in Baton Rouge in November 2023
I was looking for some shoes for my husband who had been in an accident and he needed a a casual and sport shoe that would support his injuries. . Rob Noe was extremely helpful and selected the perfect shoes for his issues. My husband loves them . They are attractive and give incredible support. The Backpacker staff ,particularly Rob , are very knowledgeable about what type of shoe will be best for any problem or occasion.
Not to mention that I was coming home from work and it was near closing time.

Visited The Backpacker for the first time today and it was a wonderful experience! The staff was extremely helpful upon entry and very knowledgeable! Pricing was reasonable and the store overall was organized and clean. They had everything we needed for our upcoming trip to Switzerland! Would definitely recommend to anyone who needs quality clothes or shoes.
