If you're on the lookout for a local gym that feels like home, look no further! This place is a true hidden gem for fitness enthusiasts located in Southdowns.I've been a regular here for a few months, and I can't recommend it enough. The first thing you'll notice is the cleanliness – it's spotless, which is something I truly appreciate. A lot of the larger gyms lack cleanliness whereas this gym takes pride in it. Plus, the equipment, while old, is still top-notch. Rather nostalgic to be using gear that's stood the test of time and is still in great shape. What truly sets this gym apart, though, is the atmosphere. The staff is incredibly friendly and always ready to lend a helping hand. And speaking of the people, you'll quickly get to know the familiar faces – it's like a little community within these walls. It's motivating to see the same folks pushing themselves day after day.

I love spectrum at Southdowns! If you have a terrible workout, you can walk right out of the gym and over to the Bulldog for a beer. Only cons are that the WiFi can be a little spotty sometimes on the women’s side of the gym and the workout equipment isn’t super up to date!

Was in town for 7 days, and was looking for a local gym to work out.For background, I'm a gymrat - mostly do heavy lifting / powerlifting. (bench, squat, deadlift, weighted dips, shoulder press). I was looking for a gym with free weights, and an open workout space to do cardio (shadow boxing, MMA training)I found this gym close by the hotel I was staying at and joined as a guest. I worked out 6 days, and found it was a great gym.Hours: 5/5 stars. they open early 4:30 am. and are open most days til 10. sat and sun, hrs are shorter... but that was fine.. worked out afternoons sat sun.Cleanliness: 5 /5 stars. equipment was clean, the clientelle for the most part put everything away where it was supposed to go. layout is well thought out and spacious. equipment and stations are grouped by muscle groups, and categories.. cardio treadmills, free weights, trx, dumbells.. etc..Equipment: 5/5 old school equipment mixed with newer stations. Some of the machines are older think 1980s... but they do a great job maintaining the cables, pulleys, and pads. anyone who knows the frustration of cables sticking understands.. the equipment is well lubricated, and runs smooth. the free weight stations are all level and solid. Some of it is old school, but that's what i prefer. they have a mirrored group fitness room, that i used to shadow box, and do kicking... and two other areas which look like rehab areas.staff: 5/5 the guys and gals I spoke with every day were very helpful. it's a big place, and when I asked if they had an area i could any particular exercise they were helpful. Also since i'm a stranger to Baton Rouge, I was looking for somewhere to find some lighter fare for lunch... the front desk trainer was great ... made a tonne of suggestions for restaurants, and what to order.Overall...I was very pleased. The gym was nicer than my hometown gym. I saw a bunch of ridiculously critical reviews.. clearly someone has some vindictive issues and was over the top. I enjoyed using the gym, and rate it 5/5. afterwards I spoke with the manager/ owner... and thanked her... I have no complaints..

The facilities are very poorly maintained. There are no doors on the bathroom stalls in the men's locker room. The showers are single stalls with a curtain which gets wet and moldy when used; they never seem to be cleaned. If it was a normal communal gym shower they could at least pressure was the whole thing and bleach it. Those are way more sanitary. The sauna is broken. They posted a sign a few weeks ago saying all these things would be getting fix that week, but they never did fix them. The steam room works, but the temperature on it is actually way to high, which makes it a little unbearable. The price isn't bad, but then, they upcharge for every little thing: towel service is an extra 10. A cup of water costs a dollar. Renting a locker is extra, and so on. Honestly I'm a little surprised they are even still in business

My youngest son recently was driving through Baton Rouge when his truck broke down. He was helping my other son, who is in the Air Force, move from Texas to Georgia. Unfortunately, his truck broke down at 3:15 am on I-10. He had to wait 4 hours to get a tow truck, and all his attempts to get another rental vehicle in Baton Rouge were futile. There were no rentals available – NONE. So he booked the earliest flight out, which was at 4:30 pm.My son, James Martinez, whose review is posted here as well, had to kill some time so he WALKED from the Auto repair shop, purchased some food and decided to go to his favorite place in the world-a gym. Any gym. You see, my son is a classic physique competitor who has traveled throughout the United States for competitions and shows. He is a small business owner and enjoys going to small gyms because he loves supporting small businesses as well. His social media pages, for which he has extensive followers, also have many positive reviews for the many gyms he’s visited and products he purchases. He thoroughly understands the power of word of mouth and marketing on social media.Spectrum, is a small, nice gym, as he described it to me. However, the treatment he received was extremely rude. A paying customer, who purchased a day pass, and one of their signature smoothies. He was about to call an Uber to make his way to the airport. Was it the small suitcase he was carrying that made this business manager so uncomfortable? Was it his pacing as he spoke on the phone? He was dressed like a gym customer should be and may I add the obvious, you can tell he is a bodybuilder, a mile away. I am not sure what the ideal image for their customers is. He had not slept for more than 24 hours with the ordeal he had gone through. What he had hoped to be a pleasant experience in his hectic day, turned out to be embarrassing and painful as the manager asked him to leave as he described in his review.Management, employees, are the face, advertising, and marketing tools of a company. Their manager poorly represented Spectrum gym.I raised a true southern gentleman. He left without arguing or causing a scene because that is who he is, a gentleman.

Donna…the club director of this location is extremely rude and unprofessional. New management is needed. She is a poor representation of the gym as a whole. I do not recommend going to this location.

The manager of this location (DONNA) was very rude and made for a terrible experience. If the owner is reading this, then I definitely suggest finding someone else to manage and be the face of your club.

Manager (older blonde woman) was extremely rude.. the gym itself was nice but I fully believe the person running a gym can make or break someone’s experience. I hope that the owners find someone better to run this facility!

I am from Savannah, Georgia and was helping my brother move to Georgia from TEXAS after retiring from the military by driving his truck and trailer for him. Unfortunately the truck broke down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after driving for 12 hours. I then had to wait 4 hours for a tow truck. After making it to a auto shop I ubered to get some food and then walked to my normal happy place. THE GYM...as I waited to catch my last minute flight that I booked to go back home to Savannah. I came across this gym and decided to check it out. I paid $11 for a day pass to use the entire facility. I wanted to shower and see if it woke me up enough to want to train and relieve some much needed stress. Unfortunately, I was too tired to train so I decided to look around at their apparel, snacks and supplements. As I'm looking I see the manager (old blonde lady) and the young girl Jenna talking about me and giving me looks...I guess because I was rolling around a small carry on bag with my RedCon1 backpack. I then approached them and asked about the smoothie bar that they have with seating available. I paid about $15 more for a large smoothie and a couple of snacks while I waited another 30 mins to head to the airport and get checked in early. After I drank the smoothie at the bar I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and leave. Before I began to leave, I was trying to figure out the specific address to type in the Uber app to be picked up from there, so I proceeded to ask the manager...she was very short and rude with her responses and failed to make eye contact, until I sat down at the bench in front of the sign in desk where the manager immediately said "um no, no...you can't just hang out here, you need to leave." I replied "I'm sorry?...(immediately showed her my phone) I'm booking an Uber right now to leave?" The manager said "if you're not training you can't just hang out here, you need to leave, there is a bench outside." I said "well I paid for a day pass?" The manager replied "yeah no...there is a bench outside, you can't be in here." I said (in shock at how rude she was) umm okay... and walked outside. I was completely d*** founded. It's not like I'm some homeless looking guy walking around in normal clothes...I was wearing gym clothes, and had a gym bag...and was purchasing things and paid for a DAY PASS to be able to use and experience the facility. I strongly do not recommend coming to this location and do not wish to visit or sign up at any of their other locations due to this experience. If you plan to uphold a strong reputation as a business I suggest choosing wisely of the people you wish to represent and manage the business.

Nice gym but price is not worth it. I was here for work for 2 months and paid a $50 fee just to sign up but here is the kicker.....I canceled March 15th and they charged me for April too because I didn't give 30 days notice of cancelation. Straight BS. Paid $250 for 2 months. This place is a rip off.
