No one ever talks to you when you walk in the door or at any other point. Employees look sloppy. Animals look sad and are often battling infections it appears. Too many animals in one cage

Called to ask if I could come by and get a chip scan for a lost cat. I did not have the full attention of the operator. Was trying to ask where to go when I came in to get what I need, and she kept saying "yup" to questions that were not yes or no. And then I realized that she was also checking out customers and setting the phone down while I was talking.

First and foremost, none of my problems are with the low-level staff. They are so sweet and helpful, and I know they hate the treatment of the animals just as much as I do.
The conditions that these animals live in are horrific. I am not a vet, but I have been working closely with reptiles for three years. My standard of care for these creatures is admittedly high, but their basic needs are nowhere near being met. From a husbandry standpoint, the living conditions are atrocious. Copious piles of fecal and filth. Overcrowding in enclosures. Improper humidity levels for snakes that are actively shedding. The list goes on.
I've had two major experiences regarding animals in distress and pain, and I will include those pictures. First was in a bearded dragon enclosure with at least four beardies. One bearded dragon was missing fingers, and there was an obvious and active infection happening. Not pictured is another beardie in the back with a similar injury and blood smeared around. I found and told an employee who genuinely seemed as horrified as I was. I can only hope that the beardie was euthanized, as that is the most humane option. The pictured beardie also appears to have the beginning signs of metabolic bone disease, an incurable condition caused by improper lighting and diet.
The most recent experience that pushed me to make this review was a leopard gecko with an infection of such severity that I have never seen and the management's inappropriate response. This leopard gecko was limp, barely breathing, had serious eye issues, and a horrifically swollen tail. I immediately tracked down an employee, who then went to get the "animal manager." This woman came over, took one look at the gecko, and tried to tell me this was normal. She acknowledged that she had seen the gecko like this and that he "got mad" at her when she moved the hide he was sprawled on. I know that I came across as a pretentious Karen, but I told her that I knew this was NOT how a leopard gecko should look. She finally pulled him out and walked away. She did not say anything to me at all after her initial insistence that this was fine, and she refused to even look at me. I was firm and concerned, but I was not rude or mean. Again, euthanasia is the most humane option in this case. Due to the failings of humans, this leopard gecko will die soon because of how sick it is.
I have been against Petco for years, but I only shop there because I have a rescued ball python (who was given up by another big chain pet store because of health issues) who refuses to eat anything but Petco rats. I can no longer, in good conscience, purchase anything from this store and will be pursuing other options.
I implore anyone who reads this to please purchase exotics from local, ethical pet stores or breeders who actually know what they are doing. These animals deserve better.

If I could give this 0 stars I would . Olivia is the worst groomer and whoever I spoke with at the front desk is awful as well . I brung my dog in and specifically asked for a tad bit of trimming above her face being that her hair was beginning to grow in her eyes . I sat there approximately 25 -30 mins in hopes that I would be able to watch them cut her but they began to push my wait time back . It was stated that Doja had two matted knots one at the back of her leg and the other underneath her chin , I in return told them that it was ok for them to shave off the matted TWO knots and I would be fine with everything else knowing that it would grow back instead they still insisted on cutting all of my dog”s hair off . I hate them there they are the worst NEVER AGAIN I wouldn’t even buy a dog treat from this place

Rude woman at check out. Wouldn’t put an item in a bag because it was “too big” and it was a dog toy. It was a white young lady with blonde hair I didn’t get a chance to get her name. I guess she was upset because she was away from the counter and I had to get someone to page team lead to the front for her to show back up to the counter.

Unfortunately, I purchased a soft crate without looking at the reviews. Store policy for online and instore is 30 days. After that, no matter what the issue with the product, defective or not, you are out of luck and out of $80. The reviews are terrible and Petco should not be selling this item.
