I have never felt so unwelcome at an Establishment- Highland Road veterinarian. I was greeted with a frown and was looked at like I was completely crazy for wanting to see where my cat would be boarding at inside. The employees completely made me uncomfortable as I was walking with my cat to the kennels. I was also mocked as I was leaving because I was giving instructions on how to feed my cat and also was rudely told to take my cat carrier with me! I explained what had happened to upper management and was again treated rude with the remarks of "I would have to make a separate appointment for a tour to see where my cat would be spending her time in the facility ." I also asked what would be the plan to get the animals out in case of an emergency? I was rudely told there was NO pre-planed emergency care for the animals in case of a fire or any emergency and that my cat carrier would be the last thing they would think about getting my cat in to to get her safely out of the building! I have spent hundreds of dollars at this particular place, which is already extremely overpriced already to be treated in such a hostile way. I was almost afraid to even leave my animal there and had the worst vacation just thinking about the whole incident. Do yourself a favor, and move on to a veterinarian place that actually values you and your pet and not just your money!

My husband and I don't have children, so our cats are our babies. Their physical and mental well being is of utmost importance to us. The staff at Highland Road Animal Hospital have cared for our cats for 20 years. In 2008, Dr. Jessica O'Neil joined the practice and became our primary veterinarian. We implicitly trust Dr. O'Neil's medical and physical treatment of our cats and suggestions related to psychological issues (home and vet anxiety and home territorial issues etc.). For 18 years, Dr. O'Neil has taken care of our cats. Over these years my husband and I have a formed a collaborative relationship with Dr. O'Neil regarding the overall care of our cats Dr. O'Neil has become family to us. In 2009 our beloved cat, Lil Bit, and had to be put to sleep. Dr.O'Neil was Lil Bit's doctor so we had an understanding that she would be the one to euthanize him. When that day came, it was Dr. O'Neil's day off; nonetheless, she found a babysitter for her toddler son and came to the hospital. The heartbreak of losing Lil Bit was eased by Dr. O'Neil's presence. Our overall experience with Dr. O'Neil and the Highland Road Animal Hospital staff office has been excellent.

Do not go to this vet! We brought both of our dogs here for a check up. We were told one had cancer and that it had spread. And the other had an ear infection. After discovering we did not have ear drops at home we called back to see if we could get some and they told us that we'd have to pay for another visit even though our dog was JUST there. This vet money gouges. We called a separate time to see if the vet offered services to come to our home to put our dog down and they were so rude, told us no and when we asked if they could help us find someone that does do this or if they knew of anyone - they rudely told us "no" and "good luck" and hung up. We won't return!

I am so dissatisfied in this vet... I loved it when Dr Fox owned it and she was my Dr but today while they were actually open, my pet's back went out, which has happened before... we have been there for 9 years and they refused to see her because they were booked!!! They made me take her to LSU to pay even more money than they charge which is ALoT!! last month my dog had trigeminal nueralgia.. the vet looked at her for about 5 minutes and literally said "I have no idea" I took her to the neurologist but also googled symptoms on my own and it was OBVIOUSLY Trigeminal neuralgia! If I can google it why couldn't she????? VERY UPSET! And disappointed. No help on a day when they were open for a patient of 9 years SHAME on you!!

I am very pleased with the service and care my dog received at Highland Road Animal Hospital. I called at 7:20 on a Monday morning because my dog was sick, and they were able to take her in at 8:00. We saw Dr. Oneal, and I was very pleased. My dog stayed the day there to receive care, and she left that afternoon feeling a lot better. Highly recommend!

We bring our two Giant breed dogs here. Dr. Bergeron and Dr. Ryan are great and they both recommended new treatments for our fur babies, which we really appreciated.

If I could give zero stars I would. Our dog received such bad care at this clinic. Our precious Bear died several hours after leaving the clinic and they never told us that death was near. Wanted to see him back in 2 weeks to get his vaccinations up to date. Sent us home with food and and antibiotics. Bear suffered greatly due to either their greed or incompetence.

I wouldn't trust my doggies to anyone else. These are the kindest group of doctors I've ever mer. They are compassionate and extremely professional.

This vet clinic is very genuine. They truly care about well being of your pets. I go to LSU and my pups normal vet is in New Orleans. I called them when my dog had a tumor and they had a same day appt. they made sure my pup wasn't traumatized. They kept giving him treats and telling him he is a good boy when sticking the needle in the tumor. They wanted to clean his ears but they decided he had enough of a hard time that day and to wait on it. I'm glad they truly cared about him not being overwhelmed or stressed. They even called a few days later to check on him. Now today, day after thanksgiving I'm in New Orleans and his Nola vet was closed and he has had diarrhea for over a day. So I called highland road for adivce. They were so helpful. If I lived in Baton Rouge after this semester I would be using them as his normal vet. Great vet clinc, super genuine.

Save your time and your money. Received inaccurate quotes from the Vet over the phone, in person the cost of our appointment went from $500 to $800. Also gave me inaccurate information regarding which shots were due for my 2 dogs. Two days after my appointment with this Vet, drove my dogs at 6am to be boarded at Camp Bow Wow and they wouldn't accept the shot records from the Vet. Total debacle.

We love Highland Road Animal Hospital. Dr. Fox has been so good to us! Our cat was diagnosed with Diabetes last year and she has been so wonderful in getting Jasper back to good health and supporting us all along the way. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Fox and the whole staff.
