I found both of the vets I saw and at least two of their staff to be extremely patronizing & rude. They kept talking to me as if I were really, really stupid for not instantly agreeing to whatever they said, but never recognized or heard me when I told them, "But you're all giving me contradictory information!" Rather than taking the time to document what I was being told about my pet, each of the four individuals would launch into absolutely contradictory advice. It was maddening to say the least, if not actually dangerous for the health of my pet. Instructions were never given in writing (e.g. never any kind of e-mail or handout on follow-up care.) I honestly question whether or not they actually wanted my pet to get better? Or if they wanted to create a revolving door where I would come back over and over for visits & expen$ive food. I do NOT recommend them. They're unethical, lazy-minded, and arrogant.

My husband and I had been bringing our dog to Garden District Animal Hospital for three years, but without much enthusiasm. We've finally decided to invest the time to find a better vet. Here are my positive and negative observations of this clinic: Positives: - The staff were friendly and affectionate with our dog. - They're open late (until 6:30 PM or so, I think) some days, which is convenient if you work until 5 PM. - About a year ago, our dog needed surgery and they referred us to a great local veterinary surgeon. Negatives: - Very rushed and chaotic feeling to the practice. This feeling was not specific to certain days of the week or times of the day. There's a chronic sense that they're churning dogs and people through. - There are at least two different veterinarians at this practice, and your pet will see whoever is working/available at the time you come in - so there is NO sense that the vet gets to know your pet and provides personalized care. - Our dog had some strange breathing problems last spring, and at a vet's recommendation at this clinic, we paid a couple of hundred dollars extra for x-rays, which were then sent to LSU to be read by an expert (or something like that). After over a week had passed and we hadn't heard back from Garden District Animal Hospital with the results, we called them - and they had completely forgotten about the x-rays and either never sent them to LSU or never followed up with LSU to get the results. Basically, they still didn't have the results because they'd forgotten about the x-rays. - Some of the staff really need to work on how they communicate over the phone. On more than one occasion, I've had someone answer the phone when I called here with "Yes?". (In other words, NOT "You've reached the Garden District Animal Hospital, how can I help you?") You really get the sense that they're stressed, rushed, and your call is another hassle. - When we adopted our dog as a 20-pound puppy, a veterinarian at this practice told us that based upon our pup's dental development, she believed him to be full-grown. As an adult dog (who is not overweight), he's over 50 pounds. This example doesn't speak to the quality of care they provide, of course, but what else are they completely wrong about?

I brought my puppy in multiple times here. Dr. Greene is super nice and very informative with any questions and he will even ask you questions to make sure y'all talk about things which was great. The puppy shots were averaged price. I know places off Highland that cost double..but I wouldn't say GDAH was cheap. I can always get an appointment, and they are always helpful over the phone for any weird questions you may have. The sick pet fee is pretty high, which is unfortunate. I really like the atmosphere here but I do wish you could see them wipe down more things sometimes. My dog has peed on their floor and they were quick to clean it up.

I wish I could give a negative star. I am sitting in the emergency room with my dog who I brought in to garden district animal hospital days ago for what her amazing previous vet diagnosed as a simple waxy cyst that is pretty common in dogs of mine's breed.. without asking me at garden district, the assistant and dr. Greene started handling her peeling the skin off of it and taking a biopsy. I expressed my ambivilance and they just kept going. The vets assistant acted like the vet telling me what the vet was going to want to do and even telling me I didn't need to put any antibiotic on it when the dr was out of the room then later the dr did give me something. I had waited for over two hours to be condescended to when I asked simple questions and then coerced into scheduling SURGErY the next day to remove the bump. (Which is not a growth it's like a pimple. He told me he saw abnormal cells and really alarmed me and I felt coerced into scheduling a surgery. It felt wrong. I was really upset when I left and subsequently she got sick that night with u controllable diarreah and vomited the next day.. when she would eat again I fed her dinner and the same thing happened last night and this morning except now she is vomiting bile and shitting blood. She hasn't eaten anything new or been around other dogs. The only place she could've caught something was at that vet and I didn't see anyone cleaning the rooms after previous patients. She better be ok. This animal is my companion and my baby. I'd seen a woman vet there a while back and she was great. What happened? This kind of practice is dangerous.

I've had a few troubles here getting prescriptions filled. We fill everything at Costco, which the vet doesn't like, but it's our choice. We go to pick up the medicine, and have to wait, because the vet never called it in. It should have been called in June 29, and here I am July 8, and it hasn't been called in yet. We will be switching to an easier vet to work with .

Excellent staff. Extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Also quite affordable compared to other vets in the area. Very comfortable with the care and treatment they provide my dog.

We dropped my dog off on a Friday in order to receive an allergy vaccine. Upon picking her up a few hours later, we noticed her right eye and partially her left were bloodshot. I waited over the weekend to see if it would clear. Monday it hadn't so I brought her back. I told the veterinarian that we noticed her eye after she left their clinic. The Vet became very defensive and a bit huffy, implying that my dog could've injured herself anywhere. Once I told her that we dropped my dog off Friday, she changed her tune and said, "Oh, well I wasn't here Friday". She left the room to investigate what happened and came back and confirmed that they indeed caused the bloodshot in my dog's eye by how tight they were holding her, stating that my dog "freaked out" when she saw the needle. She never once apologized. Additionally, my dog is still showing signs of allergic reactions. I wonder if she even received the shot in the first place and we were billed for it. This is unfortunate because I really liked the clinic initially.
