Let me start by saying I’ve been frequenting Aveda Institute Baton Rouge for a few years. I’ve been pleased minus a couple of few hiccups. Today, was an unpleasant experience. I had a scheduled appointment with R., a specific student for today at 3:30. This appointment was scheduled during my last week’s hair service. I arrived at 3:13, checked in and proceeded to be seated in the waiting area. The front desk person approaches me at 3:27 to inform me that the student will not be able to do my hair because the student is working on a client and also has to take a lunch break. School ends at 5:00 or 5:30…”break when?” .The two floor instructors were informed and brushed it off sending the former desk person to tell me he’s sorry the student cannot get me today. The floor instructors stood there looking in my direction just yapping away while instructing the front desk person to attend to this matter. What neither idea them knew is that another student had already mentioned to me that the student appointed to do my hair was working on yet another student (not a client) and not for as an assignment. Just doing a fellow classmates hair. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in the i professionalism I experienced today.

October 2024: The haircut I received from Mallorie was excellent! She listened to what I wanted, took her time, and gave me exactly what I wanted. I have scheduled another appointment with her.
From May 2024: Meg gave me an incredible haircut yesterday. She took her time to ask what I wanted and did precise quality work. Her educators were very happy with her work and supportive of her efforts. I'm very happy. I will return and I recommend this experience to anyone who has some time to work with these talented students!

I understand these are students but my hair is ruined. I wasn’t expecting perfection but it’s a mess. My appt was at 1:15, and the first foil went in at 2:15. They stayed there till 4:30. The foils fell out the entire time so the bleach was mixing with the color and it’s as bad as you think. My scalp and forehead and hair is orange AND blonde and black. The student was sweet but totally distracted cause she was texting the entire time. The teachers were barely around and they told her different things. After two hours of bleach in my hair I flagged down a teacher cause the student kept leaving and I asked to please just take it out and tone it. She tried to touch it up but it’s a sloppy insane hair color. I’m so glad she discounted my service cause now I have to find someone to fix it. I was there for 5 and a half hours and all students the staff had locked up and left while they were drying my hair. I was the last one out and it was a train wreck. The vibe was incredibly chaotic with everyone yelling and running and there seemed to be no management. It felt like high schoolers got left unattended. Sorry Aveda, I definitely won’t come back.

I was diagnosed with Covid when it first came out in 4/2020. Due to my oxygen level being extremely low, I was put on a ventilator for 27 days. As a result, I had to go through months of physical, occupational, and speech therapy in hospitals, in-patient, outpatient, and skilled facilities.
As time went by and my health improved, the first thing I wanted to do was to get my hair done. I called Aveda (Baton Rouge) to make an appointment. When I arrived, the staff and students were very professional and attentive to my needs. They treated me like I was a V.I.P. And to date, I am still receiving the same level of service.
I would like to personally thank the director, managers, instructors, employees, and students, for providing first class customer service when I arrive up until I leave. Ms. Walker will be an Aveda customer for life!!! ?

The educators and student were very nice and welcoming. However, I don’t feel they were fully aware on how to do black curly hair. I wanted a pixie cut 90s look but they did not deliver like promised. The student doing my hair and educators made it seem they knew what they were doing. However, the young lady did my style incorrectly and she constantly needed assistance in phase 5 of the learning process. Granted I know these are students and they are learning but they are in the last phase I feel they should have a full grasp on the world of cosmetology. One rule is if you don’t know how to do something then say that. People’s money is involved and transparency won’t hurt anyone. Customers are not experiments and real life mannequins. Hard earned money is involved. Will not be coming back here.

Randal did an amazing job on my silk press. My wash felt like heaven sent ? he was sweet and was not afraid to scratch my scalp. I truly recommend him.

I had such an amazing experience at Aveda! My stylist Emily did an excellent job, my hair turned out exactly how I dreamed of it looking! Not to mention, she was so friendly and professional throughout the process. I will absolutely be returning :)

Everyone is great. Sophie is wonderful and very talented. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. They take care to make sure the services you receive are what you need and want. I don't go anywhere else for my hair.
