My husband and I have been going to this vet for several yrs now. Last week my husband called on Saturday before they closed a little frantic because our dog kept yelping out of no where. We thought she was having nightmares because she would wake up from her sleep doing this. She kept doing it even while awake, which we informed the person we talked to about this. She with a very condescending tone said, “yes, it’s probably just nightmares, dogs have those” and when we explained that she seemed like she was in distress and heart rate was elevated she yet again dismissed our concerns and said “dogs have a fast heart rate…” my husband got off the phone with her almost immediately after that. Not even an hour goes by and my dog is yelping and crying for several minutes straight. It was awful, we had no clue what to do/or even what was wrong. So we called a wonderful emergency animal hospital in Richmond, who was glad to help us and took our concerns seriously. She had pulled a muscle in back and in her neck. They gave her medication and we are so thankful that THEY took the time to actually listen to us and examine her.
I will never return back here again. Which is unfortunate because the vet is actually a nice man but the receptionist’s have ruined our experience on more than one occasion. The last straw is you all not taking my animals distress seriously.

This is the best vet! Everyone in the office is super friendly and helpful they always take great care with our fur babies. It’s definitely worth the 45 minute drive!

Well, if I had enough words to express how wonderful doc Alford and all of his staff are, I would put them all in this review. They have helped me through some difficult times and have always been there for all my animals. Their friendly kind empathetic and I also must add their fun. I have six animals three cats and three dogs. I used to have four dogs, but I lost one and when she had to be put down, they were also so kind to us to help us through the loss of my lulu. I just can’t recommend them enough.

Dr. Alford is top notch! Excellent service with a caring, and compassionate staff. I very much appreciate them squeezing my pup in on short notice when she suffered an injury while visiting family in the area. Thank You!
