One of the best experiences I've ever had at an animal shelter. The care and cleanliness of the facility is unbelievable. The staff was so welcoming and you can tell they truly love the animals. The drive from Lexington on the Bluegrass Parkway is peaceful and beautiful. One small note if you use GPS it will take you to the firehouse, the shelter is behind the firehouse so just drive around the first building with the garages and you'll see the shelter. Kaylee was a delight to work with and we are so grateful for the care they gave our sweet girl till we could go get her.

We got our Ozzie here 2 years ago, and paid a visit today to donate supplies. Clean place and very caring people, trying to take care of those sweet dogs and cats.

Was there to donate Dog Food when making Dog food donations scratch out the UPC code. The entrance is behind the Park and Ride. The shelter is behind the old Firehouse. Iwas told they will be moving in about a year a new shelter is being built where the old auction house stood.

If a dying stray comes to your home on the weekend you have to endanger your animals. They don’t take strays on the weekends, they will then lie and say they are closed when everywhere you look they close at 3 on Saturday.

Needed help with a long time neighborhood stray, left behind during a move. Wanting to make sure this sweet kitty was safe from feline distemper, rabies and fixed...Bullitt Animal Shelter was wonderful. Not only did they spend time educating on the difference between feral and community cat, but time was spent verbalizing how to successfully capture with a live trap.During this time we found several neighbors having similar concerns regarding the cats safety from illness and pregnancy. We were able to coax this neighborhood lovely with a plate of tuna, avoiding any trauma.Returned several days later, Kitty went on about its routine, as if never away. Still visits the same homes, same days and times, always coming close for a head rub before walking off to another adventure.Thank you to everyone at the shelter for your wonderful care and enthusiasm . ❤️

This is a nice shelter. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Entire place is clean, well-lit. It's easy to find, though behind a large building and out of sight. Good parking, easy-in, easy-out. I adopted a very nice cat, not a minute's trouble out of her. Whole process was done quickly.
