I recently had a disheartening experience at Express Personal with a recruiter named Debra Sloan. This encounter left me feeling incredibly disheartened and disrespected. In an era where diversity and inclusivity are championed, it was shocking to encounter discrimination simply because I held an online high school diploma from Penn Foster, despite being the first in my family to attend college. This incident made it painfully clear that stereotypes and judgments can still overshadow personal struggles and accomplishments.Adding complexity to the situation, I've been dealing with anxiety and a series of health issues, including a recent diagnosis of diabetes, which have significantly impacted my life and employment history. I've faced challenges in maintaining stable employment, often due to my fluctuating health. However, I thought my fortunes were changing for the better as I had recently found a medication regimen that effectively managed my health issues and anxiety. With newfound hope and stability, I decided to reenter the job market.I reached out to a recruiter at Express Personal, Debra Sloan, with excitement about the prospects of returning to work. Despite the fact that Penn Foster is regionally accredited through the Commission on Secondary Schools of the Middle States Association and nationally accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission and also has national accreditation through Cognia, her response was laughing to my face, as if a dark cloud descended upon the conversation. The recruiter's tone and demeanor shifted drastically, and they made it clear that they believed my educational background to be inferior. It was as if my diploma didn't hold any value, despite the hard work and dedication it took to achieve it. Notably, I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration through a local college. What struck me even more was the way the recruiter seemed uninterested in my personal journey. I wanted to explain that I had been through an uphill battle, navigating my health issues and anxiety, and had finally found a way to manage them effectively. I felt defeated, as it seemed like a waste of time trying to communicate this to her. I thought they would appreciate my resilience and the determination it took to reach this point, but instead, as she looked up the diploma and found it was accredited... no apology, just clapping. This experience left me feeling like the worst person ever. I had worked so hard to overcome my obstacles, only to be met with prejudice from someone who was supposed to assist me in my job search. Discrimination based on one's personal view on education is not only unfair but detrimental to the principles of equal opportunity. It's a painful reminder that stereotypes and preconceived notions can persist even in the face of adversity.Discrimination has no place in our society, especially from those in positions to connect job seekers with opportunities. Let this be a reminder that each of us is fighting our own battles, and we should be judged not by our past but by the potential we hold for a brighter future. If this is the type of people recruiting job seekers at this company, no wonder they are in need of help so badly.

Alline and the crew have helped me a few different times before landing on my dream job that I never thought I could've landed by myself. They've been there whenever I had a question, no matter the time of day. Whether it be 5:30am or 6pm, even though it's outside of hours. I definitely would suggest if you're looking for a job, this place will get you a career.
