Discovered this place while visiting the Diamond Caverns & Mammoth cave. I absolutely love history so this alone made the trip to Ky well worth it. To see the remains of this Tavern & learn the history behind it was a must.

Not busy at all. I was the only one there. It's free! Encircled by a fence for safety. Paved walking path at the park. Ruins are magnificent. I love historical sites. Parking lot is well paved and maintained. Shelter house has public restrooms that were clean and maintained. Nice park has beautiful shade trees and playground equipment.

If you are into historical places then this one is worth a quick stop. It was neat to check out this old once thriving tavern. Having kids, it was also nice having a park right there to wind them down a bit. They also found this place to be neat and interesting. I will say it was misleading through other people's pictures. There is just the brick tavern surrounded by a gate and a park behind it. There are not really any other grounds to check out like I had though initially.

This is not an active tavern for those who might think it is doing a search. It is a historic site. It is located right next-door to the equally historical Victorian Inn bed-and-breakfast which used to be the Mentz Hotel.

This is a beautiful well maintained park. The park is run and maintained by the city, they do not allow metal detecting which is sad for those of us wishing to preserve history. They have the right to prevent metal detecting, but the explanation I was given by the city's mayor was very contradicting. Considering that the park itself was built on this historical site. It is my opinion that it was desecration to put the park itself on the site. It separates the tavern from the grave site of the original tavern owners. Still a awsome place for the family.

5 stars for the playground in the park here, which is why we stopped by. The ruins are interesting to look at for a few moments but that's about it. The playground is really nice and shady.
