As a retired pharmacist moving from a northern suburb of Chicago,Lake Forest, to Midway. I was pleasantly surprised to be able tohave the Railroad Drugstore. I was the manager of the tony pharmacy in the iconic Palmer House Hotel, with the popular soda fountain visited by celebrities performing at the Palmer House, Bob Hope, Phyllis Diller, and many others. The sodas and malts were the best made by what was called a 'soda jerk'. Tohave a retro soda fountain in Midway is the BEST plus thelovely friendly family owners. Have a chili dog and malt whileyou wait for your prescription to be filled, an experience notavailable at Walgreen's or CVS!

Nicest hard working people you could ever want to meet. I'll never use a big chain store pharmacy again. Really nice people and really good ice cream and food in the front also.

This is a treat to find in downtown Midway. It truly has the feeling of an old fashioned drug store. Ken the pharmacist is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Most of the locals already know how great the service is at the pharmacy but now let's give those not in need of medication a reason to stop in. Ice cream and I mean real honest to god ice cream. Sundays and banana splits, or just grab a cone. It's almost worth the drive from Lexington just to have one of their deserts on a Saturday morning or sometime before closing during the week.

Switched my rx to Railroad Drug after Kroger was no longer considered in-network for my insurance and I wish I had switched sooner! No long lines or rude people here. My rx has always been ready promptly and the people are so friendly and I am in and out of there so fast (unlike at the big pharmacy stores where you are waiting in line for 20+ minutes). They also have free delivery for your prescriptions if you live nearby which makes my life so much easier as a mom.

I'm writing this review based only on the purchase of greeting cards and some hard candy, as well as, view of soda fountain area. I did not go into pharmacy or purchase any ice cream. Walking into the story is like walking back in time. A full soda fountain area with bar stools and two small booths along with a child parlor table and chairs are in the very front of the store. Some basic candy and gift items are nearby along with greeting cards and some pharmacy themed shirts. The fountain had a service representative cleaning the area and one patron during a mid-Saturday dreary afternoon. I would definitely visit again for a shake, Sunday or ice cream if for no other reason than nostalgia. The pharmacy is in the back of the store. It had several small aisles of products with the pharmacist mid-center. A client came while there. It is not a CVS or Walgreens. It's a small town pharmacy that looks like it could have been in operation for years passed down from one generation to the next. A picture of yesteryear. I do hope it remains viable.

I've been to the Midway Music Festival both years and went here both times. It's a nice old time feel, to get that ice cream or soda you want. Def worth going to if you're around the Midway area on any sunny day, and want an ice cream fix.

My husband and I walked in the door about 12:55 PM. We stood there for a few minutes looking around and then was told that they would be closing in three minutes. My husband wanted a hotdog but they said they had already been put away I wanted an ice cream with fudge. I was told that the fudge it already been put in the refrigerator. It was very disappointing. There was three, very anxious to leave, young teenagers running the place. At 1 PM they shut the doors and left. They had already done everything to close the store before the bell tolled1 o’clock.

I don't think the two employees working on a Saturday morning at 10:00 AM were prepared for 100's of bicycle riders coming through Midway. Waves of riders kept stopping for a quick ice cream stop. I am not real sure why this is called Old Time Soda Fountain. It's a basic ice cream shop that serves blue bell ice cream. There are not many flavors. The employees scoop out the Blue Bell Ice Cream and put it in your choice of a waffle cone, sugar cone or cup. I enjoyed my stop. It was a great break from the rain and 25 miles of being on the bicycle seat to get here.

For ice cream.. much better than DQ. Scoopable Blue Bell. Enough flavors that decisions could be hard. Prices are awesome. My grandkids love it. And what’s not to love about Midway?

Not enough good things to say about this pharmacy. Recently our daughter had rsv and an ear infection. They filled her prescriptions immediately, I was going to wait hours at other pharmacies. The staff was so kind and had great suggestions for getting her to take her medicines. So glad I moved to midway and found this place.

Shopping in Midway when a family member got stung by a bee. We went to the Railroad Drug store and the pharmacist and staff were extremely helpful and friendly (even though I was wearing a Louisville shirt, and there were Kentucky photos all around). Soda fountain employee was friendly and the ice cream was delicious.
