This place is a hole in the wall and I love places like that. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. The servers were very attentive. My buddy got the hangover. Warning it is a lot of food but tasted amazing. I ended up getting the pancakes with an egg on top. Both were excellent. For the two of us with food and drink our bill was about 25 bucks. Call that a win with today’s prices. Skip the chains and go local businesses. You will not regret this one.
Parking: It looks like a tack shop up until you take a right.
Kid-friendliness: Crayons and coloring provided.

Wagners is a Louisville Institution. It’s a ‘No frills greasy spoon’ diner. The food is good, especially the fish special on Friday. It can get pretty crowded, so be prepared to wait a bit.

We have been loyal customers for many years. That ended yesterday sadly. We arrived at 10:20am . There was no wait. We had 4 people. There 4 top was still dirty so we sat at the clean 6 top. Our waitress explained that the kitchen had already finished last call for breakfast so we had to order lunch. No problem. Our fault for sleeping in. We ordered our drinks and our tuna sandwiches. Then 3 folks came in and sat at the 3 top that had been cleaned off. They flagged down a waitress and said that they were there before 1030 and demanded breakfast. We listened as the lady apologized and took their breakfast order. Then we witnessed another person come and apologize to them. Then after we had been there long before they came we watched them get served their breakfast. Meanwhile we had been refused breakfast and after 52 minutes of us sitting there watched them arrive, order and get served.. We were enraged by the patrons sense of entitlement but more upset at the way we were treated while we observed the rules without protest. We ended up leaving without eating and the way the staff acted that day ensured we will never return.

Waited 50 minutes and the kitchen realized they forgot my order. They apologized for being short staffed as I was walking in, why is a place right across from the derby sucking so much?

Great, local joint in the shadow of Churchill Downs. Lots of interesting memorabilia. Nice store in back. Smell of bacon. Hits you when you open the door.
