I've been to art museums all over the country, and the Speed is a favorite! You can tell this is a city that truly values and supports the arts!

They have a free event every First Thursday of the month from 5:00 -8:00 pm. It includes access to most of the museum, but excludes the current seasonal exhibit.

Interesting mix of art from around the world and across various time periods and genres. I really enjoyed the Kentucky art section and the exhibit on sugar and its impact (positive and negative).
We didn't pay admission (went on a Sunday) but did pay to park in the garage next door ($8 for 2-3 hours).

I went to the Speed for the first time in years but will definitely be back much sooner the next time. I went to see the film Wildcat but toured a bit of the museum before the start time. Fascinating exhibits featuring items from numerous areas of the world and eras. Cost of admission is reasonable with my sister and I paying the senior price of 10.00 for anyone 60 or older. Parking is available behind the museum in a parking garage. Costs re based on time with us paying 10.00 for a few hours. That is the maximum I believe. They have tours available for groups and activities for children. It is a jewel in Louisville and shouldn't be missed.

We had a great time. The building and art surpassed my expectations. There was something interesting for everyone to enjoy. I loved talking with my teen about the pieces he found interesting. I definitely have to go back because I realized on the way out I'd missed one area and my kid wants to go back when the cinema is open. We spent about 3.5 hours there. I really enjoyed the South Asian exhibit and reading the descriptions about the art. I've never seen art from India. It was very cool to get a peek into the culture.

this is a great museum with lots to offer from different eras & cultures. we did yoga there today which was fun! they have free admission on sundays although you still have to pay to park in their garage. they have a lot of construction areas currently (some of the exhibits, parts of the building, pathways outside from the garage to the entrance, etc) so we didn’t get to see as much as i’ve seen here in prior visits.

This was my very first museum ever and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!! There is SOOOOOO much to see and read while you're there. They have different exhibits during different times and while we were there they were featuring "India". There was so many awesome things to see and we got so many amazing pictures as they encourage you photograph anything you'd like which really surprised me!! I only put one picture up because I don't want to ruin anyone's experience because it is THAT cool of a place!! If you're on the fence and wondering if this is a museum you should see I HIGHLY Recommend it. We aren't from the area so we didn't get to see near as much as we wanted too but I'm so happy we decided to see this museum. Next time we will try and make time for this one again PLUS the the Muhammad Ali or the other big one I can't think of the name of right now!! Lol Such an amazong experience.. Please give it a try!!

The surrounding spaces are under construction, but there’s a true beauty to the sanctity of the museum in such close approximation to all things construction related. The exhibits are truly lovely, with both traveling and permanent exhibits shining brightly.
