Please dont take your pets or any animal here in an emergency. They let a dog, who was hit by a car and in known critical condition, suffer for 8+ hours on the premises because the 800$ deposit for imaging and labs was not available at that moment they requested. They denied him care and sent him home, even though they were advised the deposit would be available the following day. The next day, knowing the deposit would be available, they contacted us and said to bring him back to the clinic but he had already passed away. If you love animals, please take them somewhere else.

This place SUCKS!! They don't give a rat's butt about your "baby"!! Their only concern is $$! They refused to care for an animal that had been hit by a car because they said they needed an EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLAR deposit- for an exam, IV Fluids and an X-RAY - REALLY? Sent the dog away. The dog died during the night and these idiots called the next day and said "You can bring him back now." Little late now but thanks. DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU HAVE AN OUNCE OF COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS because these people clearly do not!!

They got us in that day. Wait was 2 hours but you cannot beat the price! I typically have to spend double at the regular vet. We will be back.

Took great care of Oliver when he broke his leg and the bone was sticking out his leg. He was all matted all over and and a person found him and took him to the shelter. Elizabeth Stark took him to Shivley and he was in the hospital for 20 days. He's perfect now. Thank God for them and Southern Indiana Animal Rescue!.

Excellent. I drive across town just to see Dr. Joyce Fuchs. Your fur baby is treated like it's their baby

They care and are the most affordable you may have to wait you may have to do things the old way they're not up-to-date and computerized that's why prices are so low but they really care and they really do a good job and it's worth it for your animal.Just visited again and the same care was given and even a personal # if my cat needs the doc what awesome people

I have been going to Shively Animal Clinic for at least 18 years. Dr Mary Jane, Dr Joyce, and all the doctors there have always been wonderful, helpful and accommodating. I've had 2 dogs pass away while with them and they showed me love, compassion and comfort. The office even sent me a Sympathy Card on the loss of my most recent baby, Lexie in October 2023. I'm known as the lady who takes in the difficult dogs and I have 2 right now. The staff keep me upbeat and laughing every time I'm there. The Front Office Staff are kind, efficient, very communicative and always willing to help out in finding a solution. Although the wait for care may be long, and I've waited as long as 6-8 hours, I don't mind because they always make it up with outstanding service. If you can see past the wait time, Shively Animal Clinic is the best place in Louisville to take your animals.

My dog was having trouble breathing and couldn't walk. I called shively and the girl that answered the phone said if we got there before 4:30 they could see her. I called at 4:50 and we rushed up there and got there at 4:30 on the nose. The 2 girls looked at each other and the rude skinny girl told her she had to take. I should have known then. The girl that "took" me asked if I'd been there before and I said along time ago. She kept looking for a file for 15 minutes. Finally I asked her if she could make a new card. The rude girl said it's supposed to be 4:20 for new patients. Then I told her I was begging. She "said" the doctor said no. I told them I would pay double. She went back and "asked " the doctor again" she said no. I don't think she even asked Finally she said smart , "this is not a hospital". I was furious and crying because my dog was dying and they didn't do anything. I took my dog to metro animal hospital and the were great. Ended up I had to euthanize my dog. She was ate up with cancer and fluid around her heart. So thanks for nothing rude people.

I used to love this veterinary clinic. The staff seemed to really care about the animals they treated but somewhere along the way they stopped caring. The first cold and callous thing that happened occurred when my one year old cat Ozmanock had to be euthanized due to feline aids. my family and I felt very rushed to say our goodbyes, and after they gave him the shot, they wrapped him in a pee pad and wrote head on one side and tail on the other so we would know which end was up. this is a beloved family member you're talking about not roadkill. That was an extremely traumatic experience for my 10-year-old grandson. The next thing that happened was my dog Pepper had to have a growth removed from her side. This was a more than $1000 procedure. When it was time to pick her up I realized I had brought the wrong credit card with me so I gave them my debit card and the credit card that I had and told them to max them both out which paid over $800 of the bill and told them I would be right back with the other credit card. They wanted me to go out to my car and bring my dog back in and leave her for collateral! I stated before this is a beloved family member! She was not a gold chain! You do not leave a living being as collateral. Obviously, I refused to do that, but I did come right back with the other credit card and pay the remainder of the bill. That was my last time ever going to Shively animal Hospital. I do not recommend taking your animals here.

Brought my fur baby in on a Friday evening before 6 she could not walk on all 4, her right rear leg or hip was hurt. They gave her a cortisone shot and sent her home with pain meds to come back for xrays. I go the next day and they tell me they have to schedule it. Never mentioned that. Thought they are supposed to help dogs! Now my baby has to suffer until they can get an appointment!!!!!!! Update- cray scheduled 5 days later

We have used Shively Animal Clinic for many years but today we are beyond frustrated with them!!! We took our puppy Irwin this morning to be checked because during his neuter on Thursday the SNIP Clinic saw that he had an enlarged spleen. Shively Animal Clinic is where we had taken our puppy Irwin to be treated for puppy strangles and to get his first set of puppy shots from August 2nd through early September. When we went to check in today at 10am they wanted to charge is $100 just to see him, it was a $50 emergency visit fee because he was being seen for his spleen and a $50 new patient fee. Yes they were trying to charge a new patient fee on a dog they just saw 5 months ago today. I attached a copy of a reciept from one of his visits with them.We still got on the call back list. Keep in mind that they wanted to charge us for an "emergency" visit, at 3:01pm I called to check and see our status because we hadn't heard anything and was told I should get a call back within an hour and a half. At 5:19pm I called back and was told it should be within an hour to an hour and a half. Well just now at 7:27pm we finally got a call to bring him back to be seen. After putting our entire day on hold since 10am, they finally called nearly nine and a half hours later for his "emergency" appointment. I just don't understand how things work there. We will return in the morning to get him seen and then we may be done with Shively Animal Clinic!

I checked in at 7am. Was called to come back at 12:15pm. Sat in the parking lot for 3 HOURS before they called us in. Completely defeats the purpose of waiting at home until they’re ready. Will not be going back! Finding a new vet. Ridiculous.

A few months ago they let me sit in line for an hour at 6 am then turned away my really sick dog. I had called ahead and they told me they would have someone look at him to determine if he was an emergency when I got there. But they refused to look at him when I finally got to the head of the line. It was a hellish day and I nearly lost my dog. Clearly they put profits over pets and have zero compassion.
