Please dont take your pets or any animal here in an emergency. They let a dog, who was hit by a car and in known critical condition, suffer for 8+ hours on the premises because the 800$ deposit for imaging and labs was not available at that moment they requested. They denied him care and sent him home, even though they were advised the deposit would be available the following day. The next day, knowing the deposit would be available, they contacted us and said to bring him back to the clinic but he had already passed away. If you love animals, please take them somewhere else.

This place SUCKS!! They don't give a rat's butt about your "baby"!! Their only concern is $$! They refused to care for an animal that had been hit by a car because they said they needed an EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLAR deposit- for an exam, IV Fluids and an X-RAY - REALLY? Sent the dog away. The dog died during the night and these idiots called the next day and said "You can bring him back now." Little late now but thanks. DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU HAVE AN OUNCE OF COMPASSION FOR ANIMALS because these people clearly do not!!

They got us in that day. Wait was 2 hours but you cannot beat the price! I typically have to spend double at the regular vet. We will be back.

Took great care of Oliver when he broke his leg and the bone was sticking out his leg. He was all matted all over and and a person found him and took him to the shelter. Elizabeth Stark took him to Shivley and he was in the hospital for 20 days. He's perfect now. Thank God for them and Southern Indiana Animal Rescue!.

Excellent. I drive across town just to see Dr. Joyce Fuchs. Your fur baby is treated like it's their baby

My dog was having trouble breathing and couldn't walk. I called shively and the girl that answered the phone said if we got there before 4:30 they could see her. I called at 4:50 and we rushed up there and got there at 4:30 on the nose. The 2 girls looked at each other and the rude skinny girl told her she had to take. I should have known then. The girl that "took" me asked if I'd been there before and I said along time ago. She kept looking for a file for 15 minutes. Finally I asked her if she could make a new card. The rude girl said it's supposed to be 4:20 for new patients. Then I told her I was begging. She "said" the doctor said no. I told them I would pay double. She went back and "asked " the doctor again" she said no. I don't think she even asked Finally she said smart , "this is not a hospital". I was furious and crying because my dog was dying and they didn't do anything. I took my dog to metro animal hospital and the were great. Ended up I had to euthanize my dog. She was ate up with cancer and fluid around her heart. So thanks for nothing rude people.

I used to love this veterinary clinic. The staff seemed to really care about the animals they treated but somewhere along the way they stopped caring. The first cold and callous thing that happened occurred when my one year old cat Ozmanock had to be euthanized due to feline aids. my family and I felt very rushed to say our goodbyes, and after they gave him the shot, they wrapped him in a pee pad and wrote head on one side and tail on the other so we would know which end was up. this is a beloved family member you're talking about not roadkill. That was an extremely traumatic experience for my 10-year-old grandson. The next thing that happened was my dog Pepper had to have a growth removed from her side. This was a more than $1000 procedure. When it was time to pick her up I realized I had brought the wrong credit card with me so I gave them my debit card and the credit card that I had and told them to max them both out which paid over $800 of the bill and told them I would be right back with the other credit card. They wanted me to go out to my car and bring my dog back in and leave her for collateral! I stated before this is a beloved family member! She was not a gold chain! You do not leave a living being as collateral. Obviously, I refused to do that, but I did come right back with the other credit card and pay the remainder of the bill. That was my last time ever going to Shively animal Hospital. I do not recommend taking your animals here.

A few months ago they let me sit in line for an hour at 6 am then turned away my really sick dog. I had called ahead and they told me they would have someone look at him to determine if he was an emergency when I got there. But they refused to look at him when I finally got to the head of the line. It was a hellish day and I nearly lost my dog. Clearly they put profits over pets and have zero compassion.

We had taken our late cat to this vet for 4 1/2 years and truthfully it can be hit or miss. The front desk staff may be volunteers or in training. Some are quite kind and helpful and others not so much. Staff and doctors have always been caring and helpful. Last year we ended up adopting a stray cat who we decided to take to Iroquois Animal Clinic. Although in previous visits they were able to provide service on this occasion when our new cat ate one of my wife's meds they had no available openings. Since we have had a relationship with Shively Animal Hospital we called them. After some conversation with staff and the doctors they were able to see her. Once there I had to stress to the front office staff that I was told to bring her in and she needed to be given fluids, etc. and stay overnight. Fortunately they still had the paperwork for our departed "Gracie" and was taken back perhaps 10 minutes or so later. They took good care of her and she was released the next afternoon. Although it was an expensive lesson to learn I was told by other people that I would have paid much more at another clinic. I was grateful they would take her in.

The waiting time is out absolutely crazy, BUT, service it is Great Overall, saying that, worth the waiting! Plus overall cost is pretty convenient vs. other Animal Hospitals!

On 10/07/2023 at 6:45 am I stood in line with my baby boy miniature poodle. I was turned down for service due to my vet wasn't open at the time i ask so if I didn't have a vent would they see him? No response was quite they can call a doctor but no doctor until 9am wow. Now my baby has to be put down for his illness. I pray that one day all the doctors, staff get sick and get treated the same way when they become sick. That serves you'll right the way you'll treated my baby and any other babies they turned down for services. Shively Animal Hospital you'll should be ashamed I also pray that someone comes in that cares about animals buy the building out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!

Took our pet cat in to get checked out to see what could be done. He had a mass or tumor on his side that burst and now the open wound is the size of a golf ball. They turned us away without even looking at the cat because we were considered NEW customers/clients since our last visit to them was in 2020 (3 years prior).
