Why Joe's is awesome for Smoketown, in three bullet points. - They sell eggs and milk and have big specials like "$99 meat order" and "$59 meat order", and they will make you a custom sandwich. - It's mostly food with only a little beer. - Their motto on every flyer: "When They Tear Down the Projects, Joe's Will Still Be Open!!!" The only concern? Not a place for fruits or veggies. The last time I was in here, I think I saw one head of iceberg lettuce. Things you're more likely to see here instead of a zucchini: - cake frosting - bologna - pizza rolls - Crisco - Kool Aid Jammers - cigarettes Nevertheless, our corner of Louisville lost its Kroger and lost its Save-A-Lot. Save-A-Lot still distributes its weekly circulars in the mail even though the closest location is on Dixie Highway. Who in Smoketown is going to want to go to Dixie Highway just to go to Save-A-Lot? Joe's is there, in a pinch.

Joe and his hospitality has reminded me off the days of when I was a country boy in VA and the mom n pop stores knew the community and cared about your well being. They saw you on Sunday, they grand kids might go to school with you and there kids may work with your parents, I get that out of town love from him when I'm there and enjoy placing my money in a business who puts it in the black community who loves him. He:s the last of a dying breed. My crew is coming in for Kwanza n we go clean my brother joe out of all those delicious meats!! Love you brother!!

I love Joe and his family this man has known me since I was a baby and the quality of his food is excellent and the store is clean and he is very friendly and is family to all who knows him! It's been 37yrs of love and great service to the community!

Great service. Clean. Food delicious, very fresh 5 year customer. Worth a trip for the sandwiches, salads, fresh meats. By far in top 5 of best butchers in Louisville. Would rather go here than most grocery stores. Great Prices. Absolute favorite placde and to top it all of very clean.
