My actual rating is 0 stars but the application won't let me post this unless I choose one or more stars... My husband and I went in to have our taxes done for the 2013 tax year. We got married in June 2013 but the girl doing our taxes didn't include that. I am on SSDI and Army C&P but the girl didn't include that, either. My husband works for the railroad but none of that information was included with our taxes being filed. We were unaware of this until August this year (2015), when we received a letter from the IRS stating that we owed $2800. It took me three weeks to reach anyone at this location and I had to do so by calling the corporate office. I ended up filing for an extension on my own while I waited to reach someone. Another branch offered to help and then decided that they wanted to charge me for their services. I told them where to stick it and called corporate. They refused to let me speak with anyone and their only action was to submit a franchise support request to contact me. When I finally reached the owner of this location, he said he'd file an extension and take care of it. It is now the end of October and I have not heard from him and have been once again, unable to reach him. In the meantime, we received a letter from the IRS, today (28 October 2015)... It came to us certified and says that we have been found "deficient" and have until January 2016 to appeal. Isn't this place awesome? They either better fix their mistake or I'm going to sue them for the $2800 the IRS is coming after us for. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!!! As a matter of fact, DO NOT USE LIBERTY TAX SERVICE!!! They will not stand by their work and will not even treat you as though you're worthy of their time. However the IRS does not care why something is wrong. Ultimately, YOU are the one responsible. Sure they send you a copy of the "Taxpayer Bill of Rights." I call BS on that. Here's your rights as a taxpayer... You have the right to pay the IRS any amount of money they claim you owe or YOU go to PRISON. Liberty Tax owes this money for NOT doing my taxes correctly. Obviously, they are not going to honor the contract we signed stating that they would handle situations like this if it is within two tax years. Stay away from this company...
