There is no doubt that this museum is a small, yet mighty collection of rotating exhibits with a small permanent collection. Most importantly is the absolutely dedicated staff. Not just the publicly facing team (which is fantastic!!), but the team behind the scenes fighting to ensure that Kentuckians have access to top quality and thought provoking contemporary art. Thank you for your hard work!
However, as a lifelong Kentuckian from the Jackson Purchase, I can't help but use this opportunity to lobby for an idea I've had in the back of my head since staying at the 21c years ago. That stay completely blew me away and introduced me to the world of modern/contemporary art. Living near Paducah, I can see a huge opportunity that I fear will pass us by if our Commonwealth's art world leaders continue to turn their backs to our neck of the woods.
Paducah, with our wealth of folk and fiber arts, has been internationally recognized by UNESCO, since 2013, as a UNESCO Creative City in the field of crafts and folk art. That is not an insignificant designation.
However, we need more, because we deserve more. Not every museum should be plopped in Louisville, out of reach of thousands, frankly millions of folks living within easy reach of Paducah. I look at something like MassMOCA with a mixture of awe and a bit of envy. If they can do that there, with our abundance of possible locations near or in the historic downtown and the art filled lower town, combined with our Smithsonian affiliated National Quilt Museum, why can we not get our own state's attention and support?
Thank you.

The quality of he exhibits was outstanding! I really enjoyed the Shapeshifting exhibit because it reminded me of the felt art my grandchildren used to make. I thought the Pastiche of Good Intentions and Other Parties was eye catching and beautiful. Highly recommend!

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to KMAC. Masako Miki's Shapeshifting exhibit featuring felted wool sculptures brings a whimsical element to organic shapes in an intimate installation that can be enjoyed on many levels. KMAC's gift shop is a great place to pick up gifts with an artistic flair.

Enjoyed our recent visit. Hadn't been in a few years. It used to be free and now they charge $6 per person, which is completely reasonable. Loving their current whimsical exhibit that goes till August. There's a small kids activity area. The gift shop is excellent. You can take a quick survey of your visit and get a coupon code to use in the gift shop. Only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is that parking is never convenient downtown.

We came in for family fun day. We hadn't been before so it was a great time to go as it was free. My kiddos enjoyed the interactive hands on activities as well as the scavenger hunt (okay..so did I- I'm a big kid lol). The sculptures were simply amazing. As we all love art, we will definitely come back again.

Such a gorgeous layout, i was surprised at the size of the giftshop area, though it did not deter from the experience whatsoever. my partner and i had the pleasure of visiting last month at the opening of ‘Holding Pattern’ exhibition and I fell in love at the detail. This gallery clearly values craftsmanship as highly as bold and tasteful concepts. I cant wait to visit again.

What a cute museum! This was my first time here and I really enjoyed the exhibits they had :) I also liked the store they had on the first floor as well as the creative area! This is a great place for families and anyone who wants to enjoy art! Oh and the place does have an elevator so it's accessible to get to the second and third floor! Also, students and children are free and adults and teens are only $6!

The KMAC is a wonderful museum in Louisville. Very approachable for people new to art museums, but still very professional. Their current show Divided We Stand is beautiful and features Kentucky Artists. They also have a resident artist who is usually on site that you can speak with about their work.
