There are a lot of possibilities for just about anyone who wants to be creative. Many spaces to work on electronics projects, 3D printing, laser cutting & engraving, wood working, metal working, and more. Cost to use the equipment & cost hit supplies is minimal. There are several meeting forces as well. Near the UofL campus with plenty of free parking. Staff are very friendly & helpful. Some equipment will require certification/verification of your skills before use. Be sure to sign up to take the 30-minute orientation to get acquainted with this awesome opportunity.

Great community maker space! The staff is knowledgeable and helpful! I spent hours there, working on a personal art project and just loved being in the space with other skilled artisans! Can't wait to go back!

Bought the first unit of the Opal Ice Maker. The pump is now broken and since they sold out to GE, they no longer manufacture parts. Doesn't bode well for start up companies to no longer support customers when they are bought out by conglomerates. GE has no parts for this machine either. So I will never again by from a "start up" for that reason. Paid $500 4 years ago. So essentially I've paid 125 dollars a year for ice. Not a happy customer. Stephanie Moreland Florida

Amazing collaborative space. Opal nugget machine aside, this place is legit. Wish it was around while I had been in school, but it is now and I definitely intend on utilizing it as much as I can. Super proud of my University for getting something like this together!

I purchased 2 Opal Nugget ice machines for my daughter and Son-in-law. One for their home and 1 for their beach house. I bought the one for the beach house on Ebay. It worked for 1 1/2 weeks. I sent it back for a refund. I ordered a second one for them on Amazon. It worked for about a month and it quit. My Son-in-law bought us 1 for Christmas. It worked for about 5 1/2 months and quit. So out of 4 Opal ice machines ,3 quit working and the other on is ok after about 1 1/2 years. I have contacted First Build by email. They won't respond. I am willing to pay for the repair if only I could hear from them. The reviews I have read are similar. Stay away from this product and this company!!!!!!!!!!!!

When your opal stops working at 13 months right outside the warranty don’t worry! They will offer you a coupon code for $100.00. Worst part is I referred about 10 people to buy them and they did. No offer to help repair it or look at it. Just $100.00 off if I want to buy a new one.

I loved my Opal. I’ve had it for 6 months and it started to act up. Not making ice when there was water in it and not turning off unless I unplugged it. I cleaned it once a week like it said to do I used their water filters and also used filtered water every time. They told me I should have used Distilled water which then makes me think why do I need a water filter? And because it’s probably a water issue that it wouldn’t be covered by warranty. Well they didn’t even look at the machine so how would they know. Didn’t even ask for the number to to run any type of diagnostic if they could I would think you can since it’s hooks up to internet. Bad customer service! Thanks Chris for all your help I will try the vinegar soak. Save you $500 it’s only good for 6 or 7 months , oh yeah I’m the only person In The house who used the machine so it wasn’t over use.

Regardless of Opal reviews: the best makerspace around. Don't know how to use a certain industrial tool? Just ask. Fantastic place, with fantastic folks. Always a helping hand to be found- just ask!
