Highly recommend. I spent close to $2000 at my regular vet without any results. Blue Cross ran tests (x-rays) found a blockage, watched him all day and prescribed meds for $358.00. My dog is getting back to normal after 3 weeks of complaining to my regular vet that something was wrong.

I love all the doctors, technicians and receptionists here. They have treated all of my pets with compassion and care. From routine wellness to advanced internal medicine issues. They’ve helped my cat and dogs do much.

I take our blue heeler and pittie to Dr Baca. She is calm and thorough and will make a call to her research network if there is a question she can’t answer. She diagnosed two issues in our pups that other vets overlooked and helped us measure improvements that worked for our budget and lifestyle. I am so grateful.

Do not ignore the many, many 1 star reviews. This place is doing something wrong. Our vet recommended them for our dog’s lymphoma and then Dr. Campbell assured us that our dog would likely live 12 to 18 months. This seemed reasonable because she was healthy otherwise and in high spirits. But they did something while they had her back in the back for testing because that night she changed and never recovered. Stopped eating and became lethargic. We told them and they prescribed anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea medicine but it didn’t help. We learned later that week from our main vet that she was dying of kidney failure and that we should not treat it and instead do one day of palliative care before letting her go. It was heartbreaking!
We were waiting on tests from Blue Cross and I called them and left a message that our dog had died and asked them to not contact us about her. They ignored this request and called twice!
DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!!

I’m so grateful to Blue Cross Animal Hospital and Dr. Campbell and his staff for taking such good medical care of my dog, Halle. We live an hour away and were referred by our vet to Dr. Campbell to perform an endoscopy on Halle. They took exceptionally excellent care of her and spent enormous time with me to explain what I need to know to help deal with her idiopathic stomach problems. I would recommend anyone to take their pet to Dr. Campbell for the best vet care possible! Halle is doing much better! Thank you Dr. Campbell and thank you to Blue Cross Animal Hospital!!!!

For years my family and friends have took our fur babies to see Dr.Cambell at Blue Cross Animal Hospital. He was by far the best veteran. We miss him !
That being said things have changed.
My fur baby was sick and when I called to see if I could bring her in I was giving a appointment for 4 days away . What??? I was in shock that they don't do emergency visits or any type of walk ins anymore.
So I've changed my review from 5 stars to 3 because the staff is nice place is clean. They seem like they care when you have a appointment. With having a older fur baby I need a Vet office that can help her when she is sick not when they have a next available appointment. To sum it all up this place is good as long as you don't have a sick pet . Very upsetting that they wouldn't squeeze her in.
So we called around and found someone to see her it went great and she now has a new vet that I love almost as mush as we did Dr.Cambell. RIP Dr. Campbell !

Edit 2024:
Still have nothing but good things to say about this clinic. My pet recently had a dental and Dr. Baca was very professional in addressing my senior pet's dental care. Now, since the last review, there was one time when I called to make an appointment and it was never documented and I arrived the day of the appointment only to confuse them because of it. Since then they have went above and beyond to change their system because now I get both e-mail, phone call, and text messages asking me to confirm appointments. So if I don't get documentation, then I know something went wrong. All of the 1 star reviews here are unfortunate but doesn't reflect the bigger picture. This place is always busy when I go in for appointments and there are three doctors there, not just one. Yes there are some receptionists I don't particularly like but the technicians make up for it in how caring and responsive they are as well. You can also now just walk in, wait in the lobby area, and eventually be taken to a room to see the doctor instead of hanging out in your car.
Original review from two years ago below:
I have had a positive experience here overall and that's after at least a dozen visits. Not a huge fan of waiting in my car, but my visits are set up by appointments, which is a big plus over Shively Animal. I know what to expect by now and that matters a lot. Dr. Campbell is one of only a handful of Internal Medicine specialists in Louisville. So when my pet needed ultrasounds and an endoscope and further, medication, it was an easy choice to choose him to care for my pet. While you wait in your car and your pet is inside the clinic, Dr. Campbell will call you on the phone to discuss your pet and is very diligent and knowledgeable in a way I can understand. Prices are reasonable, as vet care has to match with the times in terms of inflation. I've never taken my pet in for an emergency visit, so I can't speak for what that process is like, but for general care I'm satisfied.

Yesterday we found a lost dog at about 5pm. I frantically called around to see who could/would scan the dog for a chip. This office answered promptly, was professional, and seemed excited to help us. Since it was a stray dog, we had no leash and they gave one to us to use. They were able to scan the chip and help us locate the address of the owner. The dog was returned to that address within an hour of finding him!
Thank you so much to the ladies who helped a lost pet (and us) at the end of their workday!

The older Blonde hair lady with the rotten teeth at the front desk needs to be replaced and I mean ASAP!!!!!!! She’s RUDE! She was running her mouth for about 5 minutes then when she was done she came to help me! Then she acts like you’re a burden or something like??? The “Doctor” I spoke with it’s something off about her. Take your pets elsewhere because this place has went DOWN HILL!!! I wish I could give them 0 stars..

This place in insane. Front desk (Blondie) is rude as hell. They spend more time gossiping than anything else and if you interrupt them, you get A LOT of attitude. But this is Kentucky so maybe they’re just not friendly with lgbtq+ members. They did an ultrasound on my Pomeranian, left his stomach all razor burned and didn’t feel like it was important to set preventatives prior to sending him home (ie razor burn cream, etc.) or to even inform us so we could try and manage at home. so after two days of him not stop scratching and causing open sores and bleeding, they told us to come back in and charge us for another visit. I thought veterinary clinics had workers that had compassion and care?! Be cautious.

Receptionist is extremely rude. Telling me to hurry up and explain what was wrong with my animal over the phone and then snapped at me for asking questions about prices.
