The sign may say so, but this is no Holiday Inn Express. This has to be a case of Holiday Inn buying a run down hotel that existed and slapped on a few signs without doing any renovations.
This is the second time that we have stayed in London, Kentucky and chose this hotel simply because we had stayed at a Holiday Inn Express at our destination and were very pleased. The first time we stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites which are literally next door. Never again and you shouldn’t either.
We were immediately greeted by a cold humid smell of mildew in our room. Knowing that we were only going to stay for one night we decided to just tough it out. However, judging from the room, it was going to be a long night. One of the features of the room was a ceiling fan that looked like it had been up there since the 70s and which blades had drooped down so far, the fan was a useless spinning wet noodle. However, the cherry on top of the sundae, was noticing that my son‘s feet were black after walking around the room for a little bit. I asked my other son to wet a washcloth and run it across the floor to see if it was in fact the floor. You can see the results of this in the attached picture. The rug was absolutely filthy. Judge for yourself from the picture. Would you want to stay in a room with a rug this filthy? Stay next door. Don’t stay here. It’s pricier and filthy.

Our stay was good. Checked in pretty quickly, but after the initial swipe of our key card, it wouldn't work again. We also encountered two other people at the front desk needing their room keys reset as well, so perhaps something wasn't working properly, I have no idea. The bed was comfortable and clean. However, the bathroom towels looked like they had dirty make-up smudges like they did not get very clean in the laundry; we didn't use those. Having a mini-fridge and microwave in the room was great! We had been traveling with a cooler, so I put my ice packs in the tiny freezer portion of the mini-fridge, and to my surprise, they were frozen solid in the morning. I liked that the toiletries were in large bottles so it saves plastic waste. The breakfast in the morning was good. Plenty of options: eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, pancakes, cereal, muffins, cinnamon rolls, toast, bagels, yogurt, and oatmeal. I appreciated having vanilla creamer for the coffee, but the cups did not have sleeves, so it was HOT on our hands, yikes! Overall, I would stay here again.

We booked through Expedia. That's problem 1. Says pet friendly and is for a few. A few not mentioned on booking. Also charged a 50 dollar cleaning deposit that if returned could take 10 days. Again no mention of this on booking. The rooms were clean and That's good. Outside something bit me several times around my ankles. Not cool at all. Bottom line beware of shady fees!

Dated but decently cleaned. Pool was too cold to swim. Breakfast was above average with several different things to choose from. Like that there is the shampoo/conditioner/bodywash was the large bottles available.

Please do not stay here unless you want extreme rudeness following any issues you have. We stayed the night, arriving late enough that any issues were unable to be addressed. The issue: broken bathroom tiles (as in all broken or shifting underfoot) and the bathroom floor had a layer of slimy, sludgy substance on it.
When I asked for a reasonable refund for part of our stay, I was offered $16,(tax) then by management $25. I only got $25 back in total. The management was extremely rude even after I had to chase them for several days just to have a conversation. He was rude, abrupt and ended up downright hanging up on me. Don’t stay here. Save your money and avoid whatever bacteria they are breeding.

For the prices the rooms are a little dated. Had an issue with the shower first night. Washing machine was broke. Walking distance from food.

I love Holdiay Inns and almost didn’t stay here due to other negatives review making any hotel in London, KY seem terrible. I stayed here for 5 days for a work trip this week and it was above par for a holiday inn. Great rooms and great service of what you would expect of a holiday inn. Housekeeping everyday without asking was a plus too! Don’t listen to the negative reviews, would definitely stay again!

The old adage, throwing lipstick on a pig would be a great descriptor of this hotel. While traveling north from Florida to Michigan, and after a long hard day’s drive, finding a hotel where we could get a decent’s night sleep was paramount. The friendly attendant, Melissa, at the front desk was the best part of the stay. From there everything went downhill.
It had been years since I had stayed at a Holiday Inn property. As a child they were all the rage, however, as a young adult they really had declined, so through our family travels we learned to stay clear of them. Having heard that Holiday Inn over the past several years was trying to reinvent themselves, I thought we’d give them a chance, especially with the reviews being promising.
The first room we were assigned to smelled of stinky, wet socks. I immediately checked the linens as I always do before getting settled, and the sheets on the bedding appeared stained (Melissa felt it was quite possible worn areas of the sheets). She immediately moved us to the 3rd floor, hoping to gain our trust by placing us in an extra large room. Again, Melissa was warm, friendly and accommodating.
Room 2 was huge and dark. At this point all I wanted was a hot shower and clean sheets. Upon entering the room, we weren’t sure if we had the right key, as the door wouldn’t open. We eventually figured out we had to use our hip as leverage to get the door open. While the bed we slept in appeared to have clean sheets, the linens are dingy and thin.
I don’t know if it was because of the lighting or what, but the bathroom was disgusting. At 11:30 pm, I just didn’t want to deal with it anymore. The air vent was just pain filthy! There was pubic hair on the toilet seat, a stained bathtub, and used dental picks in the shower soap holder. The pump soaps in the shower were filthy, with shaven hair all over them.
This morning upon leaving, I alerted the new front desk attendant, to which he replied, “I know that room was clean before you came.” He offered no apologies. Sorry Holiday Inn, this will be my last stay with you. Do me a favor, give Melissa a raise, she’s wonderful at what she does.
