I visited this all too familiar friendly place once again after several years of frequent visits, because I lived right up the road on Drennon. I have missed visiting with and talking to Carolyn and Vernon. Right nice folks they are. Stop in have a bologna and cheese sammich topped off with mayo and perhaps a tomato. Sit a while and chat up (or rather, chatted to ?), have an ice cream out of the freezer, or enjoy a cold drink (no, not beer, but you can stock up here with some, take a gander at the items for sale (new and used) yes, I said that. This isn't just an actual MOM & POP STORE that has survived the fading away of these types long ago, it is a piece of local history. You see, it is a REAL MOM &POP owned store. They live net door, their kin live next door, I live right up that road once more, in the same house and farm. They're still here, never moved or went anywhere. It looks the same, has the same stuff and atmosphere as it did nearly 15 years ago when I was living up that Drennon Road next to the Powell Farm. Yessir, yessum, this store is unique as it is a grocery, a deli, a gas station, a "fish tellin' of the whopper that got away" sit a spell joint, and also believe it... a Flea Market all in one! So listen when I tell you, turn onto HWY 202 (Drennon Road, pass Flat Rock Road I. That sheep curve, continue a few miles and before you arrive at the small town of LOCKPORT, stop at SHARP'S GROCERY after the Stop Sign at River Road on the left, you can't miss it. 2 gas pumps, storefront, and you're welcome and invited, so "Thanks fer stoppin' in, and y'all come back now, ya hear?" It's next to the LITTLE KENTUCKY RIVER, a stones throw and a holler away (no not the yellin' holler, the crick type (no not the one in yet neck type meanin' yer neck be stiff, and nothin' at all to do with a "crick"-it or cricket - chirp chirpitty churp. The flowing water type "CRICK" or creek down in the holler. No, doggone it dad blammit, NOT THE HOLLERIN KIND! Oh nevermind, just drop by or wave iffin ya can't stop in..... See ya on the next road ...Y'all

One if the few true Mom and Pop type businesses left. Owned and run for over 40 years. You can get the basics, a deli sandwich, cold beer to go and of course gas. They also have a surprisingly good assortment of hardware and odd and ends.

Nice little place in the hollow. Peaceful area. I went to visit my sister and she stopped for gas. The service was great, however my sister knows the lady that owns the place.
