If I could leave less than one star, I would.
I recently had an incredibly disappointing and frankly shocking experience at the Liquor Barn in Chevy Chase, Lexington, Kentucky. Despite being paying customers, we were denied access to the restroom. This lack of basic hospitality is not only inconvenient but also a gross violation of common decency and human dignity.
In a state renowned for its Southern hospitality, this behavior is particularly egregious. Kentucky is known for its warm and welcoming spirit, where businesses are expected to treat their customers with respect and kindness. The refusal to allow customers to use the restroom is not only offensive but also completely out of line with these values.
Denying a human being the right to use a restroom is more than just an inconvenience; it is a fundamental issue of dignity and respect. Access to restroom facilities is a basic human necessity, and denying it can have serious implications for health and well-being. It is a matter of basic human rights and common decency to provide such facilities, especially in a commercial establishment where patrons are spending their money.
The staff at Liquor Barn showed a complete lack of empathy and professionalism, reflecting poorly on the establishment and its management. Their actions are not only a disservice to their customers but also to the community they are supposed to serve. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any business, let alone one in a state that prides itself on hospitality and customer care.
Furthermore, no one cares that they don’t have a public restroom; it’s the principle of denying a basic human need that’s appalling. This reflects a profound misunderstanding of how important customers are to Liquor Barn – essentially a state-sanctioned seller of alcoholic beverages. How can you sell drinks and not provide a place for someone to relieve themselves? It’s both ridiculous and disrespectful.
This incident is not reflective of the values that Kentuckians hold dear. The people of Kentucky deserve better than to be treated with such disregard. Liquor Barn at Chevy Chase needs to seriously reconsider its policies and customer service practices if it hopes to maintain the trust and business of the community. Such gross behavior should not be tolerated, and I urge potential customers to reconsider patronizing this establishment until they make significant changes. In a place where hospitality should be a given, Liquor Barn’s actions are a disgrace.

They had a decent selection but they wouldn’t serve my friend or I (who are both 21). The lady ringing demanded I give her my ID before I even placed the items on the counter and then as I was grabbing it out of my wallet to give it to her she told me to leave? She was extremely rude and I’ll personally never return here on account of her unprofessionalism.
